She has a knack of inhabiting a song. Watch. When she closes her eyes you are in for a treat. Lots of voice teachers would critique some tings she does. But she is just not normal. She has this ability to connect you and the song. Someone said it is so intimate, it is like she is singing to you. Personally.

It’s hard to add anything to what you said. It’s just a beautiful, intimate performance where Angelina connects with each of the thousands of individuals in the audience-as she does so regularly. We get Angelina’s take on a classic, and we’re both surprised and mesmerized. Angelina has so many amazing performances, but one of my favorites is I’m Still Holding Out for You. She was ten at the time, and the maturity of her tone and delivery of this melancholy journey is hard to believe, even for Angelina. Check that one out to add to your Angelina amazement.

"I will remember this performance for years and years and years to come", - Simon stated after Angelina did this. I must say that I kind of belive him. At least I know I will remember and enjoy this moment, as all the other great Angelina moments. For the rest of my life. Thank you for yet another great reaction.

You said it all, especially "she has total control of her instrument." To me, she plays her voice like a jazz musician plays their sax, or other instrument of choice. She doesn't just sing.

Thanks for your new wonderful and careful reaction with Angelina, I like this version of the song of her, so soft, melancholic and slowed down and with those fantastic vocal games that really changed this old Elton John song, even if she started from the version, perhaps not very well known, by Sara Bareilles. From the first time I listened to her, with the lights centralizing her, the just hinted musical carpet (so different from the original song) and her dress perfectly in character, it completely captured me. I have listened to it dozens of times now, but every time I hear it, the emotion assails me again ❤️ ❤️ 😁 Georgina I saw that you have not yet heard her version of Bohemian Rhapsody in AGTC, please do, because it's another her amazing re-reading of a superlative song, but there are so many other that you will have to work hard to listen to them, but she will surely pay off, the emotions that this girl gives are incredible ❤️

Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when her full album is released later this year. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from RR now, and they haven't started marketing until the full album is released!. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). FIFA song - She performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old invited by Norah Jones. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list... She has over 250 songs on KZread with cover songs and many originals. Angelina also plays piano and guitar. The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "bare belly plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. She already eats most female vocalists for breakfast, and the label Republic Records and the rest of the music industry know that too! Angelina Jordan has nothing to prove. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can!

AJ said once, when I sing I aim ind the most beautiful world in my head, so I feel save. That is why she could sing before an audience of 40.000 in Korea at around 10 years. In Norway she sings at a festival of around 30.000 since he age of 8 years, a month after NGT. Stay save and healthy. German greetings

Happy to have you back to some Angelina :) Some will say that this is Sara Bareilles' version of the song, but if you listen closely to all the delicate nuances, the way she plays with the vowels, the timing, the phrasing... you will hear that this is very much Angelina's version of the song. This is as different from Sarah's cover as her cover was from the original. Every time Angelina steps to the mic, she is giving you an Angelina original. But as far as her actual original writings, she has several now. She has been writing her own stuff for years and has released four original songs so far. The first two "What is Life" and "Oslo" were written by her at only 11. Those are very much worth checking out.

I agree with you Rusty. I've listened to Sara Bareilles' version, and I don't notice anything that would make me think Angelina copied her version. Is there a similarity? Yes, just as there is a similarity to Angelina's version of any song and the original or anyone else's covers.

I'm curious as to why a few people think Angelina used someone else's version with Yellow Brick Road? Is there proof of this, or is it just because there is a slight similarity between the two versions? Or is it because someone is a fan of Sara Bareilles, and wants to give her a nod because of Angelina's rendition? Enquiring minds would like to know.

She released her first original when she was 10 or 11? She just released her first song since signing with Republic records, I think she had 4 of her own songs before.

I love her humility. Don't you get the sense that she is there for the audience rather than thinking the crowd is there for her? She presents this song as an offering, very respectful of the song itself and of her listeners.

Look. She earns a standing ovation EVERY single time. Unparalleled. Peerless. A gift from God.

AJ conquers all genres, not just jazz, you are in for the experience of your lifetime. She is on-tract to becoming the greatest STORYTELLING vocalist that ever existed and that includes both genders.

I cannot watch her rendition of this without crying, every single time!

This is her version of Sarah Bareilles's arrangement. She still made it her own. She has 4 originals. Three from when she was 11/12. The latest, Million Miles, has 3 versions: lyric video, live studio and, just released, an official music video. All should be watched. Many more covers to check out as well. Good reaction. There was a message in the song for Simon/AGT. Angelina's manager discussed difficult negotiations with no future commitment "you cannot hold me forever, I didn't signup with you" so she is singing/sharing with not the purity of the initial performance which was as a child for "Simon/world" . Instead this was her passage into the complex perilous adult world of the music industry and the road to fame.

We know Angelina's future lies beyond the Yellow Brick Road (talent contests). Angelina singing to Simon, "I'm not a present for your friends to open". Simon did not get any contract or control from team Angelina.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. If you are still new to Angelina Jordan, here are some quick things to know about her. Angelina is a child prodigy in music, with many attesting to her having an 'old soul'. Even Angelina says of herself, “I feel like I’ve lived many years more than my age. I feel like music found me." Her mother had come home from shopping and heard her 16 month old singing lyrics from a Whitney Houston song (there's a quick home video clip of this). By 2, Angelina was a great consumer of the Jazz classics (Ella, Louis, Etta, Billie, and so on). She says that she has learned how to sing on her own. Growing up with KZread at her fingertips, she could listen again and again to her favorites. By 5 her parents finally relented and let Angelina start singing in talent shows. At 7, they again relented, and let Angelina follow her dreams onto the NGT stage. Since winning, Angelina was bombarded with requests to perform or to appear on shows. Her parents insisted that she have a normal childhood, and they collectively turned down 90% of the requests, and a solid 'no' to record labels. Angelina said of the offers, “It was really great, but I knew I wanted something bigger,” she admits. “I didn’t want to jump into it until I felt I was ready.” The largest live audience she sang to is reported at 40,000, and the more she grows, the more her voice grows. Angelina’s has received over 1 billion views on KZread and almost 2.5 billion views on Facebook. Angelina has been featured in TIME, CNN, BBC, and People while also performing on the U.S. network TV shows Little Big Shots and The View. At 8 years old, she performed in the Nobel Peace Prize Concert - Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration, for Peace Prize Laureates Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi. So I've got two areas to explore her early voice. The first is to go back to her NGT performances (more on this below). The second area to land on is her arrangement of the jazz standard, "I Put a Spell on You" , by Sceamin' Jay Hawkins (1956). At 9 years and 2 months old, her black and white studio performance is considered by many to be a masterpiece cover of Hawkins' original performance. Even if I told you about it, you would still be happily stunned by her. I believe this black and white performance has areas worth delving into for a vocal coach, since her later performances never match this specific one. As anyone listening to Angelina for a while realizes, her voice continues to grow, almost exponentially. However, as she gains more ability, some of the things she could do as little girl have dropped off with the changes in her physiology. "I Put a Spell on You" is a 'Must Watch' performance for a vocal coaches to react to. There are 4 NGT performances, beginning with Angelina paying homage to Billie Holiday, singing her arrangement of "Gloomy Sunday" (NGT 1). I listened to Holiday's performance, and find it amazing that I sometimes hear Billie's voice and phrasing, albeit from a 7 year-old. Her next performance (NGT 2) is her singing Frank Sinatra's "I'm a Fool to Want You" before a judge's elimination panel. She sang this completely acapella. NGT 3 was televised/live audience performance of Nancy Sinatra's version of "Bang, Bang". NGT 4 is her final performance, with Angelina singing "Summertime" (Gershwin). If you only have time to listen to one of the NGT performances, I believe that NGT 4 is the one to watch, as her voice continues to improve (and her missing permanent tooth has grown in). You'll be able to better compare her other performances from 8-11, as well as to her 160+ covers and 5 originals. If you have time for 2, watch NGT4 and NGT 1, her audition. Of the videos I've listed only NGT 1 and NGT 4 have English subtitles or CC. For NGT 1, I recommend watching the entire video. For NGT 4, her "Summertime performance is preceded by a NGT Spotlight on Angelina. Immediately after her performance, the third segment begins with the judges speaking to Angelina about how she's impacted each of them. The 4th segment is about her being named the winner, begins at the 8 min mark, and lasts for almost 5 minutes. I loved this performance. Such a warm and rich tone in the more quiet moments of the song and then an amazing quality in the belts that are well controlled and don't feel "shouty" like some singers that really push the belts out there. In this performance, Angelina gave her voice volume and power but it was a very natural sounding belt and you can almost forget that's what she's doing. Some singers, when they belt it's very calculated when to belt and it's awesome, but it often doesn't get there by a natural progression of the song. That's my untrained opinion.

There are millions of singers that sing beautifully, but those that can sing emotions are very rare. Every song she sings, she has been doing her own arrangements since she was 5 years old, you feel the story the words are telling. And she is as good a person off the stage as she is a singer on the stage. Just over two weeks ago she released an official video of her original song "Million Miles".

I love the fact that the entire world seems to be in awe of her ability. She shows us how alike we all really are.

I’ve listened to dozens of these coaches because I love their responses...jaw drops! Not one criticism from any. I didn’t realize how technically brilliant she is until I heard their comments. I can’t carry a tune. I just fell in love with her when she was 7 on NGT!

e pluribus u-num With all the gimmicks that are used in what is known as music today it is so refreshing to come across a being that does not need auto tune, lightshows, dancers, outrageous costumes, bands, or orchestras to cover their weaknesses because she has none. AJ can perform a Capella, or with one or two instruments to follow her lead and give you chills with each performance. I have always enjoyed all genres of music, and being 75, I have experienced the best the industry has to offer, from the early 50s, to 2023, but I have never been moved emotionally in the past anywhere close to what Angelina Jordan does from 7 to 17. When I heard Celine Dion perform in a tint in Québec when she was a child, I predicted she would be the next world superstar, and the rest is history. Celine did not sign a record contract until she was in her early 20s. David Foster, who made Celine a star flew to Norway after Angelina wone NGT and tried to sign her, but her family wanted to stay in control of her future. Angelina, at 13, appeared on AGT and getting worldwide recognition signed with the largest record company in the world at age 14, Republic Records. The story is that Monty Lipman, the CEO personally signed her even without meeting AJ, he was shown a video of her performance. Angelina Jordan will be the next Super Nova very soon. As for being her biggest fan, e pluribus u-num.

Just like Queen loved Angelina's version of Bohemian Rhapsody, Elton John loved Sara Bareilles version of his song. He had this to say about it: "I was so blown away by the version of Yellow Brick Road. I've never heard anyone sing one of my songs like that ever. I can't thank you enough, giving your time and blowing my mind with that version. Because when someone sings your songs they usually copy you and she made it her own. That's brilliant--it's a hard song."
