Vocal Coach/Arranger Reacts to CARPENTERS - “SUPERSTAR” (Analysis of the most classy band ever)

Ойын-сауық

In this video, I react for the first time to Carpenters performing “Superstar”. I analyze Karen Carpenter's amazing performance, explain and demonstrate her vocal techniques and I'll tell you what I think made it so great. The Carpenters are arguably the most classy band ever to grace the earth, spinning musical silk. I am SO happy I got to react and analyse this for you. Daphne loves their music, it makes her relax!

I’d say Karen was more of a genius if she had studied piano I’m sure she could be at her brother’s level if not more but her mother wouldn’t let her shine where her brother shined because she’s the scapegoat child and he was the golden child. Not just she’s a perfect pitch singer she’s a great drummer too and played guitar as well. The record label initially just wanted her to be a soloist but their narcissist mother didn’t approve of it as she was just a minor at that time. She only approved if her son would be given a deal too. She was the caused why she developed anorexia. That’s the only thing she had a control in her life and she got carried away. Agnes thought her son was more or was loved by the people like Karen but no. When Karen died Richard career also died.

He rerecorded with Karens voice and released "Carpenters with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra" December 7, 2018 35 years after Karen died. Richard Carpenter served as the album's producer, arranger and conductor.

Their is such a haunting, melancholy beauty and also purity to her voice. Truly, an angelic voice and a timeless one for the ages. Tears well up every time I listen to her voice, it touches my soul and spirit like no singer ever has. Ever. A once in a lifetime, generational talent.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It's because of Karen Carpenter that I realized I am a contralto. I loved to sing along with her (and other low female singers - and tenors - of the early 70s).

You are by far my favorite Vocal coach and reaction channel on social media, your love and passion for music is nothing short of inspirational Your videos make me want to learn how to sing, which i have wanted to try for a while anyway, but you explanations accompanied by demonstrations and knowledge bombs that explain not only how to do the technical aspects, but also how it works and what is happening while it works is amazing. It is like you are teaching the science and biology of the voice, and i absolutely love it, Thank you for coming into my youtube algorithm and in turn, my life. You amazing human/genius

Totally agree. I was intendING to suggest the same. The guitar solos are so atypical and almost jarring for the Carpenters but bloody awesome. My fav song by them.

Karen's voice was simply the greatest ever. She was not only technically amazing, she had the ability to communicate emotion that was just off the scale. When I listen to her, I cry. Her brother, Richard, was also a great arranger.

So many more songs from the Carpenters for you to explore. I sincerely hope you do. There is a reason why so many in the music industry agree that Karen had the best voice of all time. She was a once in a generation (maybe several generations) talent. And gone far too soon. Her voice is like a warm hug that embraces the soul. May I suggest listening to their song Sing? Such a fun, lyrically uplifting song, not to mention the glorious instrumental accompaniment.

Here WE go mother, this lady was such a wonderful and accomplished singer. Karen had a rock solid vocal range with great timber and wonderful skill.... This arrangement is wonderful. It is SO beautiful... Richard, worked up this arrangement.. I have read comments that refer to this lovely lady -- "One Take Karen". They said she would nail it first time. PERFECT!!! SKILL !!!!!!!!! Take care and have a great 2024!!!!!
