As a vocal coach, I hope to see you check out a lot more Angelina. This was just a very small sample. She can sing in so many different styles, and still sound exactly like Angelina. At only 14, her library is massive... 130 song titles between covers and originals. There are many techniques you can extract from her vocals, but (as I have heard many different vocal coaches say about her), there are some things that can't be taught. She has a rich tone (that is just the way her pipes were built), she has an empathetic personality (that allows her to "feel" a song in ways that some can't), and (as she said in an interview at 8) singing is as important to her as breathing. Those are just some of the "un-teachables" that set her on a different level than 99% of singers. Thank you for checking out Angelina. I really hope to see you check out more of her stuff! I know you can't tell this from one video, but this is a future legend.

I recently saw Sara singing this exact song at a indoor concert. Now I now why she never achieved "Super Star" status. She is a great singer, but lacks that something "Special that puts her on a different level. Just like Grace Vanderwall will never get to the level of Billie Eilish, her voice is. Jackie Evango is great, and has a large following, puts out albums, and concerts, but she too only makes it up the ladder to a certain level, Quincy Jones Famous music icon stated that Angelina Jordan was the greatest RAW talent since Michael Jordan..

Welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan! Although it has to be said: You've seen (& heard) nothing yet. You will be getting loads of suggestions on which of AJ's 120+ covers & own material you should do next. (Rusty has already put in a introduction for you and is an excellent guide) She was 13 years when recording this (just turned 14 when it aired), but she has been producing masterpieces since at least the age of six. I would recommend going back in time for your next one. Her incredible version of "I put a spell on you" is always a good choice. Has to be the B&W video. Otherwise you really can't go wrong with AJ. Everything she touches seems to become gold. Enjoy!

Jazz is the backbone of her music... She pretty much can sing almost any genre. She's only 14 years old but her musicality is way beyond her age. Most said she's an old soul because she's used of singing classic songs from decades past. And yes, she connects with the song very well. She doesn't just sing songs, she lives with them.

She is very young but she has been doing this for a long time already and you won't find any of her stuff that isn't good. She also plays the piano, flute, and violin and believe it or not, is a published author. The book she wrote tells the very compelling story behind why she always performs on stage barefoot. If you follow her any you will be fascinated by her musical ability as well as her as a person. Did I mention that she does her own arrangements?

Interesting comments! I am not into the AGT circus at all, but her performance there of Bohemian Rhapsody was a masterpiece, giving her more to work with than this Elton John song. To hear what she is actually capable of, there is a whole heap of jazz tunes. And sure, she sounds like Norah Jones and even Macy Gray sometimes, yet also like Amy Winehouse, Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday. But can you imagine any of those singers doing a Whitney Houston song (with the full Whitney range) or outsinging Adele and La del Rey on some of their classic songs?

While you wait for this video to premiere.... If you are new to Angelina, please read this short bio to learn a little about her background, and what a kind and caring soul she is.... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 14 - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos. - *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in December... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage n the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person. - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need. - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 120 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects and arranges the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else) - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent. - Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube) In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.

You have a new subscriber! BEWARE! This is a long comment. You have a new subscriber. I am delighted that you have discovered the most versatile singer living today. If you continue to react to her many performances, and I hope you do, you are in for many pleasurable hours of excellent performances and your life will be changed for ever. I have listened to everything she has published on KZread and have often been surprised at her versatility - she can sing Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, and Rock - but never disappointed by her performance. Listening to Angelina perform is an emotional experience in itself. In an imaginative moment I likened Angelina to a chameleon, inasmuch as a chameleon adapts its colour to blend with the surroundings, so Angelina adapts the "colour" of her voice to convey the emotions of the song and communicate those emotions to the listener. In the six years she has been singing publicly she has covered songs by 81 famous singers, including Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Lana del Ray, Gloria Gaynor, Elvis Priestly, Louis Armstrong and many others. She takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. In life she is a very shy and humble girl. On stage she is transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing. I follow a number of young singers through KZread and do so because their singing appeals to my emotions but good as they are and as much as I admire them, there is not one of them who can match Angelina's sheer ability and artistry in being able to sing so many musical genre in what appears to be an effortless manner, In an effort to get you started on you journey of discovery, I list a few songs of Angelina singing from the age of 7 to the present day. Be aware, this is only a small selection of the 126 videos she has on KZread but will give you a glimmering of how multi-talented she is. Angelina has a massive library of songs that I have listened to many times & she has mastered nearly every genre of music except opera & rap. Jazz is her foundation, but she can sing anything, often better than the original artists. She always does her own arrangements & her gift to the World is her ability to dig up old classic, iconic songs & rearrange them into a new vocal masterpiece. Check out what she did to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody in her first performance on AGT-Champions, where she got the Golden Buzzer. Even Queen told her it was amazing. It takes at least listening to 20-30 different songs from different genre to see what she's got. She can go high, she can go low, she can go raspy, she can go velvet smooth, it just depends on the song. Her melismas & vibrato are amazing. She can totally change her voice for different songs & that's why I call her the "Angel of 1000 Voices." The most amazing thing about Angelina is that she belts out emotion, she gives me goosebumps & makes me cry more often than I should admit. You got a thumbs up & a new subscriber with the hopes you will do more Angelina. You won't be sorry!

I subscribed over a month ago and have really enjoyed your analytical comments of many of the performers you have reacted to. Now, that you have gotten this small glimpse of 13 year old Angelina I hope you will review her work in more depth. Most vocal coaches admit that, just listening to her is an education for them. I think she will amaze you similarly to the way Dimash does. You mentioned several well-known singers of past and present that she seems to have been influenced by and you will find many more when you know her better. I'm not sure if she has any limits. And, as you noted, her stylistic choices are very interesting. Try not to think of her as a child. She has a lot of experience in all phases of the performances she produces and has the confidence of her collaborators, musicians, conductors, sound techs, etc. She is a prodigy and transcends age expectations. I'm really looking forward to your future reactions/analyses, especially if they include Angelina Jordan.

On the matter of limits, indeed, she does has one that I know of: she doesn't appear to have a "useable" whistle register (at least, she has not shown us one yet). Apart from that, she has pretty much everything a professional female singer would want. (I know… not all professional female singers have one, either -- I'm just saying that "vocally" that's the only thing _some_ of them have that she doesn't seem to.)

Angelina was 13 years old at the time this recording. She's a child prodigy with an outstanding vocal range, but she lives and thrives in the key of F3. Her performances on AGT Champions are deceptive in that her Kermit is a stylistic choice and nowhere near the norm for her. You'll find out soon enough, she can sing in most any style, but her jazz influences are predominant. Thank you for the reaction. Cheers!

Thank you for doing this reaction of Angelina Jordan. She did a very beautiful performance of this old song by elton John. But this was just the tip of an iceberg. Angelina Jordan has about 120 cover songs and she also has 5 original songs where she has written three of those original songs. She was 13 in this video and she first appeared on Norway got talent in 2014 when she was 7 years old and she won Norway got talent when she was at the age of 8 years old. She can adapt her voice to any kind of music genre but she loves jazz the most and she always sings with so much emotion and she sings with all her heart and Soul everytime. She has done covers of adele , lana del ray , amy winehouseand many legendary jazz singers from the 40’s and 50’s. I would love to see you react to more from Angelina Jordan because she is gonna be a legend singer in the future.

You will hear so many superlatives about Angelina and they are all true! What you won’t hear as much is that she does her own arrangements and in many of her home made videos is the producer, camera person, sound person and director basically a one woman show! I say woman because once you experience some of her older work you will see that she has grown into a woman despite her age! My personal take is that this young lady has the innate ability to know what each song SHOULD sound like and proceeds to make it so!

She won Norway's Got Talent at age 8yo. She is the MOZART OF THE VOICE by musicality, interpretation, etc. Watch her videos and songs and see if you agree. Her tone and style are always her own choice to fit the song as she interprets it. I challenge you to watch the in-studio music video of her singing "I Put a Spell on You" ( the Screamin Jay Hawkins version from the 1950s, she holds a picture of him at the start). It is understandable why musical greats recognize her as a great talent. Check out the Angelina Jordan medley on You Tube "Angelina Jordan - A Decade of Dedication (86 song medley".

Simon required for her to sign an exclusive contract with his company, in order for her to win AGT, and she gave her answer with this song. If you look closely, you'll notice she is wearing a t-shirt with a picture of her as a child, when she won Norway GT. when she begins to sing, she gives him a glance and clearly he got the message, hence his stone cold face. Yellow brick road is a metaphor for a road of richness that I'm sure he (Simon) was proposing, and she obviously said no, so "Good bye Yellow Brick Road." Absolute genius.

I don't know what you were doing when you were 13. But to be able to sing in a language that's not your native language and to be able to express feeling the way Angelina Jordan does is amazing. And to walk out on stage and talk to the judges, as she did in her first audition on America's Got Talent, and then to be able without accompaniment or hearing anything sing the first note of Bohemian Rhapsody on pitch shows remarkable talent. And, from what I've heard about her, she doesn't have a bitchy attitude. I don't claim to be a musician, I can't even read music, but I appreciate people who have talent and have made the effort to develop it the way Angelina has in such a short time in her life.

I really enjoyed your educated and informed commentary on one of my favorite singers. You really have to go back to when she was 7 years old and entered the Norway's Got Talent show in her native country. Her audition piece was "Gloomy Sunday" by Billie Holiday, and she did two or three more you do need to hear. Then pick up a few of the songs she did at age 8 "Fly me to the moon" comes to mind, then, you're in for the mind blowing treat of hearing her B&W version of "I put a spell on you." Please do those four or five songs. I subscribed to encourage your commentary!

It's amazing to me how many reactors I've heard since AGT-TC who listen to two minutes or so of her singing, and proceed as if they now know everything about her. I've been listening to everything I could find for almost three years now and long ago gave up trying to explain it. Now I just say thanks.

People are analyzing her voice and writing elaborated comments all over the Internet about her skills. Few people noticed her true skill. Her ability to make her voice fit any song she wants. Everything you said is on point for this song, but you're 130+ songs behind. There is a lot of songs that she covered and 3 originals. I suggest you watch "I Put a Spell on You" B&W version, she recorded that video when she was 9 years old only. If your jaw won't drop after you hear it, none will do. [edit] English is not her mother language, she was born in Norway. Add this to a long list of skills.

Thank you for your insightful reaction to this Angelina Jordan performance. It is obvious that you are a true professional who understands the technical and artistic aspects of vocal music. After 40+ years as a music educator and jazz musician, I would say to all young singers: Don’t try to sing like Angelina until you know how to do it, especially in the high register. Take voice lessons and learn everything you can about vocal technique and artistic styling. If you try to do what she does before you know what you are doing, you could severely damage your voice and may never be able to sing again. Angelina has a gift that, comparatively, very few people in history have ever had. All of her physical vocal abilities and sense of musical style came with her at birth and because her family played music all the time as she was growing up. She is a force of nature. You can aspire to sing like her, but don’t push it. We would like to see and hear you on KZread someday!

Always exiting to see new reactors appear, doing Angelina performances. Angelinas base and primery love in music is classic jazz and blues (read as: from the 30s to the 60s), since she was very very young. Since she turned 11 she has gone much wider in her musical exploration, and she has made covers of such a wide range in musical genres, that is in it self very impressiv, at least for such a young artist (she turned 14 in january this year). She did start out in 2014, 7 years old, as she auditioned at "Norske Talenter" ("Norwegian talents", - or the NGT if you like). You for shure need to hear quite a few more to get your mind around her unique talent, even as a vocal coach, I think. For us, more average like people, she tends to hook us up as soon as she open her mouth.
