To give you a background on the life of Marcelito Pomoy.... he was born and raised from a broken family and ended up being adopted by one of his parents siblings who was a police officer at that time. No adoption papers, he was just fostered in his house. He studied in kindergarten through to his 3rd grade in gradecschool in a local public school. He was neglected in that family so at a very young age of about 8 years old left the only home he knew and walked the streets of Manila often going for days hungry, doing whatever odd jobs he can do to be able to buy a piece of bread or scraps of food he could find on the streets. All that time he learned to humm and sing to himself. He did so much variety of odd jobs like being a helper in construction sites, mixing cement manually with gravel and water and carrying it to the guys needing to build hollow blocks with cement, etc., selling boiled duck eggs which is a popular delicacy called "Balot" upto the wee hours of dawn, any job an under 12 year old kid could do Marcelito had done it. He would hang around clubs and restaurants and watch in amazement at the talent of the singers' performing while he watched from outside the door. He started singing himself and follow the way he sees the singers sing and thru the years he kept on singing. He was a no read no write kid having left his 3rd year public grade school education to fend for himself and survived all those years. He was in his mid teens, while in several construction sites that he had discovered he could sing both a male and female voice. He honed his skills further and sometime in his late teens or early 20's he was urged by his circle of friends to join a nationwide TV network having a singing competition in Manila. He passed the audition but did not show his full talent until he sang in the competition live and on the air. He won the competition hands down despite so many excellent competitors. He got a record deal with the recording studio arm of the same tv network and the rest is now history. His SUFFERINGS in life I just touched on the surface.... You won't be able to watch his KZread videos about his life story coming from Marcelito Pomoy because he is not comfortable talking in conversational American English. He can sing almost all songs in so many different languages with the help of a diction coach but talk to him in English, interview him in English and he would need a translator to assist him. He is very rich now in terms of an average Filipino earning a decent living in manila, he was able to buy a beautiful home and got married to his girlfriend and they have a child now to enrich their married blissful life as a family. He has now returned to school to be more confident in his life but it's still a very long way to go for him. He does an excellent job of emulating the diction, way of delivering of the singers he hears and watches. His favorite singer is Celine Dion and Andre Bochhelli (?) and the prayer is one of his favorite songs. He first listens to each song he wants to sing, following their pronunciation, breathing patterns, etc until he's able to follow them like he is Celine Dion etc. I hope I had she'd some life on Marcelito Pomoy so you'd understand better why maybe you'd notice some slight imperfections in the way he emulates other singers songs. Actually he started singing celine songs when he's 10 y/o. But to switch from high to low voices in just a second is extraordinary. I am from philippines and i'm not new to it (we call it doble kara) but i never saw anyone doing what Mr. Pomoy did. It was his winning piece in Pilipinas Got Talent. @Sandra: Yes. Marcelito is a wonderful singer, but you might also check out Dimash Kudaibergen, with his "Singer 2017" competition, starting with "S.O.S - A Soul's Plea for Help". He is a pop singer, classically trained; he has a 6-1/2 octave range, and is the most gifted male singer I have ever heard. I think God had a hand in that one, as well. Regards.
