Hello Rebeca, FYI Jorge Negrete at his early age, he always knew his pasion for the opera, and start actually went to opera schools in Mexico. His parents support his passion for this gender, but one day his father told him that if he really wants to sing for living, he had to change to ranchero style. He was not quite convenced that it was that what he really want, but after all, he start singing ranchero which make him an icon in Mexican music.

I LOVE seeing English people react to the greats of the golden age of cinema in Mexico! Makes my Mexican heart all warm and fuzzy

Luis Ortiz exacto! Pedro era tenor lírico y Jorge era barítono. Es interesante escuchar los cambios de tono cada vez que hay cambio de voz

I so enjoyed this video! I’m from Mexico and I perfectly understand the song and her explanations. I loved the way she explains this song and how she joins the party’s environment as well. I was also literally laughing out loud with just this whole video, in a good and happy way that is. Thanks, this video made my day!!!

Jorge Negrete was trained in opera and went to the U.S. where he made a number of opera recordings under the name Moreno. He was very talented and intelligent, was poly lingual learning 4 or 5 languages as a child and teen.

Jorge Negrete was a classically trained tenor. That same teacher that trained him also trained Jose Sosa Esquivel who was the main tenor of Mexico City’s opera(1950’s) and father of the great Jose Jose.
