For me, Negrete was the best of all time. Even Placido Domingo said Negrete was his first inspiration and kind of a teacher. If you want to appreciate the voice of Negrete in all splendor and power, I suggest "El jinete", "Flor de azalea" and "Ay Jalisco no te rajes".

THE GREAT JORGE NEGRETE , EL CHARRO CANTOR. He died at age 42 with liver cirrhosis a never having drunk a single drink of alcohol. He was a military. He spoke 5 languages. A cultured, intelligent, integral, handsome and noble man. It helped who could. Although he died for decades before I was born I admire him vehemently. I've seen all your movies. Luis Miguel nació en Puerto Rico, nada más que al papá de Luis Miguel le pareció que sería muy conveniente hacerlo pasar por mexicano, en aquel entonces con sus relaciones políticas consiguió que le dieran sus papeles cómo nacido en Veracruz. Ni siquiera por sus padres es Mexicano, ella es italiana y el español (gitano).

Jorge Negrete, didn't want to sing Mariachi Ranchero music because he thought this type of music was below him. He was a Opera singer in the beginning of his career, more like Plácido Domingo. But the only way he was going to make in the film industry was singing Ranchero music. Ironic... The music he dispited the most was the music that made him world famous. 🤷🤷

He's singing in a very Indigenous, Rancher type slang. "Nayde" rather than "Nadie". I grew up withy Dad and extended family speaking like this. My extended family still use this slang.
