Vocal Chops like ODESZA - With Ableton Simpler, Little AlterBoy, and Elastique Pitch

Музыка

🎧 Listen to the full song from this video: / remembering
In this video I share my process for chopping vocal samples in the style of ODESZA. I tell you where I get my samples (Splice.com and my own vocal recording) and then how I import and chop (or slice) them using the Simpler instrument in Ableton live. I then converted the slices to a drum rack in Ableton to be able to play them on a drum pad or keyboard. You can also use a sampler if you use another DAW. I then take you through the process of processing them with plugins like Little AlterBoy by Soundtoys and Elastique Pitch by zPlane. This allows you to change the pitch, formant, and timbre of the vocal sound. After this I show how I incorporated those vocals into my song to the finished product. Little AlterBoy and Elastique Pitch are great plugins to use to get that ODESZA vocal sound. I also provide some tips on recording your own vocals if you don’t have lyrics! :-)

    Yeah, lots of people don't do the Slice to Drum Rack thing. Its much easier to modify sample chops with the drum rack.

    How do you get the vocals to sound smooth?

  • @SanjayC

    @SanjayC

    6 жыл бұрын

    Try adjusting the attack on your samples...if you have a softer initial hit, it will sound smoother. I just started using this method recently, but I'm sure there are other ways to accomplish it.
