Vocal ANALYSIS of MayTree's Squid Game cringing sounds with Among Us's deadly airlocks!

MayTree has become a phenomenon sprouting from South Korea, singing all a cappella soundscapes from technology and popular movies/video games since the early 2000s. Today, I'm looking at Squid Game and Among Us, a tv show that gives me the absolute creeps and one of my favorite video games!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to MayTree for the first time, making weird noises from "Squid Game” and "Among Us".

Many years ago when I was in high school one of my friends was incredibly gifted at making mechanical noises and to top it off he could throw his voice. He would watch the clock in the cafeteria and about three minutes before the bell rang he would mimic the bell. Other students would get up and head for class. There were several complaints about the lunch clock but they never figured out what was wrong with it! This video brought back some funny childhood memories!

You know when they are really good, when their Baba Yetu -CIV IV title song cover is appraised by Christopher Tin himself. My favorite song from any game, love live orchestral version of that, Peter Hollens version is also really good but MayTrees one is also good with its simple approach without huge orchestras and choirs, just five talented peeps.

I love MayTree, they're so creative with their shorts. I first came across them about 9 months ago and my daughter really likes them too. I liked how you pointed out the "ng" consonant - this is something that my vocal coach started me on and you're completely right, it helps you find the right placement for vowels. But when I switched to using "ng" through my vocal warm-up (from humming on a straw) I almost immediately was able to hit higher notes going from "ng" to "ah" than I had been able to going from the straw humming to the vowel. Especially in my head voice. It was a really great tool to learn about. I really enjoy your reactions!

MayTree fan here since 2018. FYI, they upload new content weekly, if you're in PST like I am it's at 5:00 a.m. Fridays. Yours is the best analysis yet of this amazing group. Up until January 2021 they had 62k subs, then they exploded last year and now they're just shy of 5M. Soo and S.I. have been there since the beginning in 2000, Wonjong joined in 2013, Erika in 2016 and Hoony in 2017. They just appeared on _America's Got Talent_ on July 19, 2022, they wrapped up two weeks recording at Abbey Road earlier in July, and some of their work appeared in the massive K-Drama hit _Extraordinary Attorney Woo_ this summer. 🙂

It would be cool if reacting to a reactor videos would become a thing. A wholesome pay the appreciation forward kind of concept to support each other. Trybals already reacted to Elizabeth, so it has been done. I would love that 💞 I have a little crush on Peter Barber (who doesn't?). So I hope she will react to him 😍

This week is a great one, another band I didn't know, and this performance is a great one too. Can't wait for your Fridays one and may I request a review on Nina Hagen or Skunk Anansie?

They did a PHENOMENAL cover of the bugs bunny (yep, you read that right) cartoon where bugs is the conductor tormenting the tenor... It shows of the bass guy's voice perfectly.

MayTree has very interesting stuff. It's always cool. Do more. Their Simpsons theme for example is absolutely perfect. Their take on the Star Wars theme is... damn impressive. That one girl always has to hold the monitor up though. In EVERY video. It's not very fair. 😁. It's not like she isn't also singing a ton too. It's likely not heavy, but YOU try holding your hands up for the hour it probably takes to do a few takes.

Watched quite some video's of MayTree. The intro sounds of major movie production companies is hilarious and most of the times spot on (the only exception is Metro Goldwin Mayor, but then again it's a roaring lion. So I can't really blame them). Movie intro's 1 kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWh4mcWudKTciKg.html and Movie intro's 2 kzread.info/dash/bejne/f5lnk6iOqdnegpc.html and really worth listening is the THX intro in Movie intro's 2.

On a slightly related A Capella note, I’d be super interested to hear Elizabeth’s take and educated explanations of the vocal and muscular techniques of DJ Verbalase’s beatboxing. That man has some wicked vocal talent and the vocal control needed to create the sounds he creates is prodigious, in my opinion. That would be such a cool and enlightening interview.

Hey there, Elizabeth, I was looking through your channel and was thinking you should do a reaction to "Surface Pressure" from the Disney movie "Encanto". Not only is Jessica Darrow an amazing singer with an amazing voice, the message of the song is also incredible and emotional. Just a suggestion, thanks for all your videos!

Hello Elizabeth, I'm from Brazil, I found your channel recently and I'm loving your reviews ! I've watched about eight to 10 videos. I hope you see that comment and I saw that you never reacted to a performance by my favorite band, Led Zeppelin. I really wanted you to react to "Since I've been loving you" at Madison Square Garden in 1973 and Peter Gabriel's song "Don't give up" live feat. Paula Cole, I think you'd like it a lot. I'll be looking forward to it ❤️

This reminds me of a band that blew me & my wife away! They opened for Michael Buble and were called Naturally 7!! They were an amazing group of men completly performing covers of pop music with only their voices!! NO INSTRUMENTS AT ALL!! But if you closed your eyes you thought you were listening to the full band! Vocals, electric guitars, drums, percussion and CV classical instruments. They are very talented. It was amazing to "Watch & Listen" to!! You had to use both senses together to truly appreciate their talent and artistry. They even added some humor! During a couple of the guitar solos the one guy that was the electric guitar was literally being leaned over another member mimicking playing him as a guitar while he sang his solo. Truly original and thoroughly entertaining!! Should check out some Naturally 7 sometime.
