YES!!!

My youngest liked my knitting , but my oldest LOVES knitted socks and beanie hats. He is 23 and I have been knitting for him for over 15 years for him. I love to knit for him.

I can think of nothing more terrifying than going to a party where the only person I knew was my husband!! Obviously you survived it but I hope you had a good time. x

Yeh work Christmas parties are like that. My husband also has a Christmas party for his hobby, I know minimal details about the hobby, it’s hard to have fun and not to seem bored and ruin his fun. I’m sure others feel the same. ❤🎉

Yeah Wyatt!! Perhaps he's tired of his feet getting cold. My daughter was miserable yesterday (the 9th). She's the team lead at Kroger pickup, which means she has to run out to the cars and load them. Of course she worked during the storms. She was soaked when she stopped by at 9 - headed home for a hot shower. Looking at your Advents, it appears it's going to be a pink Christmas. The Barbie movie is a big influence in that color. Every color you've received is beautiful. The Lump of Coal socks are so pretty the way the colors are flashing. It's a lot of fun. Thank you again for showing us your socks every day. What a flash to the past - North Carolina, I believe.

These teen boys of ours just have no idea how easy it is to fill up their momma's hearts!

Hi Kay. So great that Wyatt wants socks. It is great he likes the Grinch ones you have already started knitting. Hope the party went well. I am like you when I don't know people and I go very quiet when in a gathering. I usually start asking them how their day was and how they know the person hosting the party. This helps with conversation usually. Glad you are getting so much joy knitting with the new advent calendar yarns. They are all so pretty. Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

both of my boys (11 and 15) LOVE wearing their socks that I knit for them. It's always their first chose if they're clean ☺ . Hopefully Wyatt will love them as well and will want lots more.

Ah yay for making socks for your son. I know how good it feels. I also know how bad it feels to go to a social engagement when you know no one. Actually even when I do know people I sometimes just want to hide out on my couch.🥴

That is so funny about Wyatt. My son (14) always loved my knit socks & about a year ago told me not to knit more bc he just wasn’t feeling it anymore. He even handed down ALL his knit socks that I made him to his younger sister (who is 12 & still loves my knitting). I felt very sad about it but I know he’ll come around when he’s older. It’s the high school / teenage angst years - we will survive! The grinch yarn is gorgeous- no wonder you changed his mind! I just finished a pair of Candy Cane colorway socks from West Yorkshire spinners & now onto their Holly Berry yarn. Very Christmasy & I’ll enjoy wearing all the socks even if my son does not at the moment! ;)

My son has never been interested in handmade socks, but this year when I asked what I could make him for Christmas, he said,”I'd take a pair of socks.” I was like you, shocked, but thrilled. I immediately went to get yarn for him to pick from. He has Size 13 feet, so I don’t know if I can get both done before Christmas or not, but I will definitely try!

Yes I get you! My 16 yo son asked for socks for himself and his girlfriend and I jumped for joy!! And I definitely need to mentally prepare and charge my social battery especially before unfamiliar situations.

I hope you had a nice time at your husband's party, I understand completely where you are coming from. We went to a party in the summer where I only knew my husband and I "worried" about that from the moment we got the invitation. It was fine, but I was so happy when we left to go home and put my pj's on and pick up my knitting! Anxiety can be so debilitating.

This year I made my first pair of socks…I am now on my third…when I showed people at work and church so many people wanted a pair….I really love making them.

love the purple in the homespun, if I kept getting the pinks I think I'd use it to make things for other people, really loving the polka dot creek lately. I think I may try out cozy memories at some point.

Awesome that Wyatt wants socks!! I had my husband try on a pair of socks that I was making for my brother-in-law. He has never wanted socks, and has always said that he just doesn’t know if he would like them, so I had him try these on and he was actually impressed with how they fit. Vanilla socks on magic loop for the win 😂 I hope you had fun at your party and visiting with family!

How wonderful that Wyatt wants a pair of Christmas socks! Just when you think you have teenagers figured out, they throw you a curve ball-but that one's a good one. Neither one of my grandsons has turned away from hand knit socks yet....one is 16 and the other 23. The 16 year old wears a size 13 shoe so I'm gonna be knitting the foot FOREVER!!! I try and pick that up more than the other 2 I'm making. I hope you had a nice time at the Christmas party. I'm never comfortable at a party when I don't know anyone except my husband. I ran into that a lot years ago at work functions for him. It's a tough thing for sure.

I so understand how you feel about charging your social batteries before going out with a large group of people. I do the same thing, and it’s sometimes even people I see all the time. Your Cozy Memories blanket is so inspiring! I’m sitting here knowing that I don’t have the patience for all the ends yet still debating casting one on with all my scraps because yours is so beautiful!

It’s such a fun project! The ends really aren’t bad as long as you keep up with them. I try to do them in little chunks as I go so that it doesn’t get overwhelming.

Those Mean and Green socks look so cool! I tooootally relate to feeling the social anxiety before events like the one you’re going to, even when I know people there. I would make a beeline for the alcoholic drinks to take the edge off. Not a great way for dealing with it, but it did make it more fun!

Love the mean and green socks. Ahhh, the teenage years...parents are dumber than dirt and the brain cells have disconnected. He will appreciate the socks once the brain cells reconnect. The waiting is tough.

I have some earbuds that have three levels of noise canceling settings because I also get overestimated with a lot of noise and they are so wonderful. I also get nervous in social situations.

Hi Kay. I'm a new subscriber and just finished my very first sock using your Ravelry pattern and your video here. I feel like I climbed Mt Everest! As someone who's only knitted scarfs, hats, afghans, vests...I was so intimidated but have always wanted to knit socks. I used dpns (first time!) and DK yarn (fingering, later) and have to admit that it turned out pretty good. I still have to make the other (😬)one. Thanks for inspiring me. I've caught the bug.

She's always had very hot feet and pulled her socks off as soon as she came in the house. Last week she told me she wants me to make her some!!! Teenagers turn into alien life forms, I am convinced. I raised my stepdaughter from preteen to adult, and I actually think that girls get more difficult because they create so much drama. I think the boys are harder at first, but most become more independent. But they still start to ignore you at some point so don’t take it personally. Perhaps your oldest is finally coming around.
