Vlog- Anesthesiologist Assistants versus CRNAs, reviews of airways

This vlog is in response to a comment asking about CAA versus CRNA differences. I cover that in this video in two ways: by showing a day in my life and also by going over the anesthesia providers, anesthesia care models, anesthesia legislation, and with research articles.
A little about me:
I am a NYC native who always had an interest in medicine and pharmacology. I was heavily considering medical school and specializing in anesthesia until I learned more about advance practice providers in anesthesia. I graduated with my masters of medical science in anesthesia in 2021 and have worked two jobs since then as a board certified anesthesiologist assistant. I hope to raise more awareness about this awesome profession through this content. Outside of anesthesia, I am passionate about financial literacy and independence. I also love traveling and have a love/hate relationship with the gym.
This is not medical advice. New videos on the weekends! Comment down below for any video requests!

Does having an associates in respiratory therapy a good start? What bachelors should i shoot for? Are you the one intubating/managing the patient. Does the physician anesthesiologist play a large roll in cases? Or are you managing the patient? Sorry for all the questions

Great video! :) Question: Would you recommend becoming a certified anesthesia technologist, or is that something that nurses typically train for? I don't want to be a nurse, but I'd love to have a position in the OR. I wanna be where the action is!

An anesthesia tech is different from a CAA. I believe in some states, an anesthesia tech does not need any formal training.

CRNA only practice or CRNAs practicing independently do NOT require supervision. You stated that they are supervised by the “surgeon”. That is false. CRNAs are independently licensed anesthesia professionals. Supervision is not required. Some states require supervision by a physician anesthesiologist strictly for reimbursement of Medicare and Medical but that is different than general supervision. AAs are dependent providers that must always be supervised by a physician anesthesiologist, not a surgeon. Whether an AA likes the ACT model or not is irrelevant. They must always practice in the ACT model. I’m sure eventually they will demand and push for independent practice. Any AA that denies this is straight up lying.

Well edward CRNA'S work under supervision and that's how it is supposed to be Luckily for them their body is good at lobbying and stuff plus their proffession is kinda old as compared to CAA's so they managed to convince people that they can work unsupervised which i don't agree with. Cause truthfully speaking, cRNA's have no big difference from cAA's apart from that excuse of 1 yr training in icu. The problem i have with cRNA's is nowadays they're pushing agendas that they are equal/ better than physicians. I saw that post by once cRNA and was surprised by that statement and the guy went further to say because of that they want to start supervising CAA's 🤣. It's like NPs wanting to supervise PA's I don't get why cRNA's are so insecure and always fight cAA's but the two according to what have seen, they don't have any difference cause realistically speaking what a cRNA does, a cAA can do the only think is their proffession is still young and cRNA's are suffocating them. Maybe it's the fear that they now have new competitors, i don't know These two are just assistants to an anesthesiologist simple and clear
