Vlog 148: Boxing Day Glass Recycling -

On Tuesday, which was Boxing Day, I headed out to the Monday area, as collections were a day behind due to the Christmas Day public holiday.
I arrived in the area and wasted no time, within 5 minutes I heard glass smashing from a side street, went down to find #FN18100 (Aka ‘The Big Boy’) on Glass, This is one of 2 identical 2018 Dennis Elite 5 Bucher 35m GenVs (the other being #FN18101), I’m not too sure why they used a 35m on glass, the only reason I could think of is that they were expecting lots of glass from people celebrating Christmas? I haven’t filmed this truck in quite a while, and it was one of the very first trucks I filmed and posted on KZread, so it was nice to finally be back filming it again.
There was actually quite a decent amount of bins out, some completely full others had only 2 bottles 😂
I wasn't exactly sure how this run was completed as I did end up losing him for a bit, but did find him again later on. While it is a bit big, I think this truck goes pretty well on glass, it's now the 6th truck to handle collecting the purple lids. Big Thanks to the awesome driver, Kamal for letting me film. Citywide seem to be obsessed with putting massive trucks on a glass run. Hahah lol

It does seem that way haha. The 20m Volvo I filmed yesterday is way more appropriate for glass.
I might be going to Hobsons Bay and funny enough it’s glass week

@@finn26nice Finn, I've been there I Hobsons Bay and I have watch a Dennis elite 6. The smashing is great.
Legend Kamal. I always remembered him doing Commercial Recycle in the CBD in a Dennis Bucher RL. Can’t believe he’s now into side arms too, I have probably seen worse in terms of inexperienced drivers but he doesn’t seem to be doing too bad in a side loader. I don’t really like this truck, grabbers seems farked and I can probably see why some drivers dislike this as well

Yea he’s a great bloke. He’s fairly decent for his first time on a SL. But he will get better over time. This truck is so bad, Rob likes and driver the other one, being 01, but 00 just sits in the yard until a casual or someone uses it. Apparently the grabs are delayed slightly so that’s what makes grabbing bins hard. When Ryan had this truck for a bit the arm was completely bent in the middle and barely reached the hopper. They then got a new arm from another truck.
I have been waiting for this shattering glass video and I have really enjoyed it. I would have expected more full bins after Christmas but I think most people celebrate on boxing day as a way to get over their busy Christmas day. I would expect more glass in the next collection based on my super spirited alcoholic family 😅. I take my zero sugar and zero alcohol cans to the return and earn processing centre in Wagga and as I am a "lite" drinker I only get about $80 each time. Great video with excellent camera angles, well done Dave 👏

Thanks John. I was expecting lots more full bins (and I think citywide was as well considering they had this massive truck do it) I’d say the bins next week will be more full after celebrating new year. Haha return and earn is still a new scheme here, many people still having no idea. I did try out some new angles, was standing on a fence for one, guess I looked pretty strange to the passers bye haha. The bins in the area I filmed the Volvo in yesterday were more full, but I didn’t get much because of how speedy the driver was. That video will be up on Saturday. Thanks mate! It’s always great to know people enjoy my videos. You definitely should start a channel. I’d love to see some Maribrynong greens as it hasn’t been filmed much. I have plans to come down to Maribrynong in the new year. Glad you enjoyed.
