Yes and since it was the same era they had similar hairstyles and makeup brows etc. I don't think they look like twins though bodies are different too and not many smile comparisons either. Similar style and features though physically.

Vivien had more delicate features, and looked more vulnerable, and Hedy was more sultry, and had a certain exotic look to her. Both women are so beautiful though, I can't choose one over the other.

Hedy Lamarr and Vivien Leigh two flawless beauties of the Golden Era of Hollywood. Vivien was the better actress but suffered from bipolar and Tuberculosis all through her life in fact dying from the effects of Tuberculosis at the age of 53 in 1967 while Hedy Lived until the year 2000. Hedy Lamarr did invent what we use now for cell phones radio waves that switch frequencies. In fact Hedy Lamarr was inducted to the Inventor's Hall of Fame just before she passed away because of all her inventions. She was beauty and brains.

And Vivien was stupid! And she climbed where she would not be forgiven, she would have been raising her daughter, and not chasing a man, you see, she would not have picked up tuberculosis!!!

Both women are beautiful. The difference in them are their eyes. When I looked closely I could see a special something about Vivien's eyes and her cheekbones.

To me, Vivien is hands down more beautiful. She is unsurpassed because of her ability to have such repose and grace yet fire within seconds of each other. And I find her features softer and more refined. Her smile is most unusual and so very sweet like a child's, yet it is on a gorgeous woman. David Niven said she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen outside of a museum. Cukor (gay too) said she had a beauty that made you weep it was so astonishing.

I agree that they look very similar in some instances, though sometimes quite different. Beauty is in the eye of there beholder...I think Vivien is much more beautiful and her features are more pleasing to the eye. From the shape of her eyes, the placement of her brows, her perfectly upturned nose, and her heart like lips, she is the most beautiful I have seen.

Uncanny how similar they are in looks. Back in the forties that was GLAMORE!!!!! JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Eileen Ford who started the Ford Modeling Agency when asked who had the best face she ever saw and she immediately said Hedy Lamarr. Eileen would know I would think.

Neither one is more beautiful than the other, but comparison makes it so.

the legend of Hedy Lamarr was the effect she had in person. rooms quieted when she entered. the phrase "stopping traffic" was coined because of her. many collisions on the road from staring at her Hedy is certainly more exquisite. the difference is that Vivien projects into the camera, she is present and Hedy is vacant. so while Hedy's face is certainly more perfectly crafted ( :52 ) and her beauty the most inhuman of all time, people respond to the dynamic presence in Viviens pictures

The same happened when Vivien entered a room... she was also a much better actress than Hedy. And she faced a lot of struggle in her life

It's amazing just how much these two beautiful actresses resembled each other even though, one was Austrian while, the other was British.

I think that year may be more likely to be accurate if for no other reason Hedy said she was born in 1915 in her autobiography and if you are going to lie I think I might as well slice 2 years off my date of birth when I got into my 50's. Both very beautiful indeed, but Vivien had something brilliant, vivacious, incomparable and, how I can say, a very very intense soul. Unfathomable Vivien!

Vivien Hartley (*1913) and Hedy Kiesler (*1914) were not only beautiful ladies, but also beautiful persons. In fashion and hairstyle Hedy was a little ahead of Vivien, who unlike others did not copy her but at times just seemed to have fun looking "a little bit" like Hedy Lamarr. Nobody took offense at that, because everybody knew that both personalities were on friendly terms with each other. Sadly, Vivien Leigh suffered from a nasty cold she caught in her early childhood in India and which was never cured completely, but later deteriorated by tuberculosis she contracted on top of that. Vivien Leigh left us too early in 1967 aged 54.

vivien. no one else could ever look exactly like her. the way her eyes were set was like artwork. it's like an artist carefully crafted her face.

Carolyn Johnson Liz is an astonishing beauty. Years ago I took a tour at Universal Studios in Hollywood. In the tour they presented a face mask of Elizabeth -- something they once used for cosmetic experimentation and other reasons. It gave me a real representation of Elizabeth Taylor's face, and it was exquisite -- smaller than I might have expected, but her bone structure and features were absolutely amazing. The woman was a goddess, no doubt about that, but I tend to put her into a different category, a different era. Additionally, Liz did a variety of acting roles -- sometimes with no regard to her beauty (Whose Afraid of Virginia Wolf). She wasn't afraid of roles that took her out of being just a glamour queen. Liz wasn't just a pin-up. Was she the greatest beauty of all? That's too subjective for me to provide a response. I still feel that Hedy Lamarr was the best face to ever grace the silver screen (and some color). Lamarr had something that no other actress before or after ever possessed. If you looked closely enough, you'd see that Lamarr had real, hard intelligence -- something that is both nightmarish and absolutely beguiling about a woman. I understand she was a total non-fit to myself (a Libra) on the Zodiac chart. I don't believe in any of that shit, but my encounters with women I've been driven mad for -- women who were my opposite -- the outcome was a mixture of insane ecstasy and heartbreak. Lamarr exudes this same kind of excitement. I'm old enough now to realize that even if I had the freakish chance of romancing Lamarr, she'd leave me in a wheel chair. She was the kind of gal who never really needed a man in her life to make her existence complete. Lamarr was totally self-sufficient and probably used men the way we use paper towels. In her films you won't see Lamarr smiling much -- compare that to Vivian Leigh who had one of the best smiles imaginable. This differentiates the two. Lamarr was nothing if not self-confident and composed. Vivian was less so, and that made her seem more approachable, more attainable in some weird way. Lamarr always seemed utterly unattainable -- something beyond one's capability and reach. She held such a commanding presence on the screen (or even in her photos) that mere men could only tremble at approaching an opposite who wasn't swayed by whatever men can offer to a woman. Because of her seeming aloofness, and unapproachability, Lamarr is the representation of a a real life goddess. One could argue all night about who was more beautiful -- Liz or Lamarr. For me it goes to a higher matter. While Liz was the epitome of beauty, she did not project an unapproachable aspect, as did Lamarr. To give Liz credit, she also came at a time where real acting was becoming a necessity. Most of Lamarr's pictures are pretty bad -- having seen most of them. It didn't matter because when the camera focused on her, one simply forgot about any plot aspects. Beauty is not a subject to be taken lightly. It makes clowns of men, and I don't think this is without any reason. Certainly one can talk about the evolutionary advantages of women who possess what men desire, but I actually think it goes beyond this. When I was prepubescent, I had my crushes. There is something mystical about the whole thing. When I was in the fifth grade, I adored a girl in my class, and never said a word. I still sometimes see her in my dreams. My soul ached to just be near her. Where does this stuff come from? I can remember sitting through dinners at my home and only being only able to concentrate on the object of my devotion. I never experienced an erection, I had no idea about sex, and yet I was tormented by somehow not being able to express my idolization. And there it begins. The female can over-power a male -- even at this early stage. There is something magical and supernatural about beauty. It can send the most powerful man into a state of powerlessness (see Samson and Delilah). Men or even young boys may misinterpret this -- can I call it a state of spirituality? Most older men confuse this sense of attraction with mere carnality. How clumsy, stupid, awkward and misguided. Yes sure, beauty plays a big factor in the evolutionary process, but I'm absolutely certain that something deeper goes behind it. So, how does Hedy Lamarr fit into this really big picture? My theory goes like this. Lamarr is an unattainable beauty, and all beings strive to reach the unattainable -- heaven on earth. It's unreachable but something deep within us (I can only speak for men), will wish with all their power, to somehow connect with beauty -- to become one with it. I suspect that within us is this deep desire to re-connect to beauty. Perhaps that's where we originated from and retain some residual longing. The images of beauty on Earth merely seems to awaken this underlying yearning. We might see it in the countenance of a Holllywood actress, or an image of a flower, or even in the face of an ant.

Carolyn Johnson Yes. My responses to posts often tend to go on forever. Not infrequently, I tend to get a spark and just let myself go. I don't self-moderate myself because I'm only speaking to the few who have the patience to read my diatribes. I sincerely think there is much more to the concept of beauty than has been fully analyzed. I also suspect that this overwhelming power has led to the subjugation of women. Men (seemingly instinctively) realize that women overpower them and thus force them to wear veils or in other cultures reduce them to mere sexual objects. This is something that needs much deeper examination. It seems rather clear that men fear women and relegated them to second-class citizens. I have this haunting suspicion that women are the natural dominate sex among us, and men keep them in various states of imprisonment out of pure brute strength. Some of this fear seems to stem from the un-admitted recognition that beauty is overpowering. Men (seem) to have a higher command of pure logic -- thus their domination in the sciences, but women have a better emotional intelligence (intuition) which should never be discounted. It should have an equal place in all societies. But men recognizing the beauty of women is a disgrace for disregarding their ability to retain a very necessary balance to our civilization. By ignoring the emotional cognitive abilities of women, we all suffer. An appreciation of women of beauty in film and other arts suggests (to me) that men take their pleasure at the pleasing sight of beauty but have no real understanding of its underlying significance. Until men can grasp the full meaning of beauty then it seems we are condemned to their world of a male-dominated culture that simply overlooks the hidden strength and significance represented by all things that are appear beautiful. I think beauty exists for a purpose beyond what has been explored thus far.

Thor Odinson Hi. I agree with almost everything you wrote, but men also have a power over women just like women over men. We all look for beauty and men also are handsome with perfect beauty and are truly powerful (not macho) over women. I happen to think Liz Taylor was so perfect as to be almost freakishly beautiful, then Hedy and Viv as seconds, etc. The men like Monty Clift and Rock Hudson with perfect faces, even if their sexual preference were different, they still held power. Robert Redford, Warren Beatty, George Cloony, Johnny Depp to name a few. I don't understand all of your comments but people are people and men and women can overpower each other. Don't know if I am expressing myself well but thanks.

I think that to compare two beaitiful girls is like to compare two beautiful roses. Each has same fragance, same shape, but different colors. Both beautiful women. I could say it's a tie. But Vivien is definitely the better actress. Ats far as beauty,at first glance, I would say Vivien, but the more I study their faces, I like Hedy's beauty more. Vivien's eyes carry her face. They're her best feature. But Hedy's got a better looking nose and I like her fuller shaped lips. Vivien's bone structure is a little too narrow or a little TOO sculpted for my taste.

The thing about it is although these women look alot alike, it's the light in their eye that is different. Hedy has this energy in her eye that is a bit more dominant, and calculating. Vivian has this substance about her that is a bit more fragil and present at the same time. Hedy was polished and always ready. Vivian was a bit more natural. Hedy was an Alpha female I could tell, Vivian, she could care less. She was also a bit more dreamy than Hedy. Hedy has this arrogance about her. Love both.

I do like dreamy. I think of Vivien as more of an aristocratic ideal and Hedy as a Renaissance lightening in a bottle.

To me, Hedy is has a more stunning beauty, but Vivien's acting is a bit better. Both are among the great though.

At first glance I thought Hedy was the most beautiful. But the more I look the more beautiful does Vivien become. And, I think Hedy's great beauty was mainly being photogenic. Don't get me wrong, she was absolutely stunning, but she's not as goddess-like in moving picture or candid photographs as she is in those glamorous studio portraits. Vivien, on the other hand, was perhaps even more beautiful in moving picture and someone said in a documentary about her that she was even better looking in real life. Vivien had perfect almost feline features and the most gorgeous smile, Hedy's face was a bit wider and more cold if you can say so. Regardless, I think they are both two of the most beautiful women the world has ever seen but Vivien wins hands down for me, because she was perfect from every angle and she had more expression and warmth in her looks than Hedy. Vivien was a much better actress too but Hedy was a talented inventor and an intelligent woman.

Vivien is far more extraordinary. There is a sensitivity, an alertness in her face, and a lightness that Hedy does not possess, even though she was certainly beautiful, too. Vivien Leigh is just mesmerizing. As far as acting goes, Lamar's Delilah cannot be compared to Leigh's Scarlett O'Hara or Blanche DuBois! Vivien was a superior actress. I enjoy them both though. Thanks for the beautiful job on this video.

Vivien was more delicate, Hedy more sensual. In the last photo Hedy is the one who held up the best in middle age. Her fuller lips remained so while Viven's lips narrowed. I adore them both and I wish there was even one star today who could hold a candle to them.

In my opinion, Vivien Leigh tops Hedy Lamarr in acting, however, I believe Hedy deserves more credit than people give her. It's not that she didn't have talent, it's that Hollywood never gave her a chance to shine.

superb tribute to two very beautiful women very similar in looks but Leigh I think was more beautiful, you did a fantastic job well done

They were both so beautiful and so talented.. i think Hedy has a more mature face to Vivien.. Vivien was more innocent and youthful looking; because her face was softer.. whereas Hedy's was Viviens face but more matured. I love both of them i would kill to look like either of them to be honest.

this video is superb the resemblance is uncanny but I think Vivien Leigh was better looking , but again a fantastic tribute to both ladies

Vivien Leigh is more beautiful. Even though she only did five American films she managed to win two Academy Awards out of the five.

They are very similar, but I'd give Hedy the edge because she really did have a better figure. Vivien's figure was nice, but she had Hollywood making the best of her and costuming her perfectly. Hedy naturally had the better figure without Hollywood embellishments. I LOVE Vivien, she was certainly the better actress and she was beautiful, I don't want to offend Vivien fans! But if you look at them top to toe, Hedy did have more elegant lines.

Vivien certainly had the edge when it comes to acting talent. Hedy was brilliant but a mediocre actress. But when it comes to beauty (and they both were), I'd give the edge to Hedy Lamarr. I do think they had her overly made up in some photos, when it really wasn't necessary.@@BarbaraDavid-tp9rc

Fantastic job putting together this work of comparing these two golden-age button-nose, dark hair goddesses, Monique! I was born in the last third of the last century, so I grew up watching lots of tv's/movies and always admired the incredible beauties of these MGMs/20'thFox era's. These ladies ate foods that were natural before pesticides and artificial craps took over the food production industries, so you know and see their NATURAL beauties from that cleaner era of the early part of last century. I loved and admired these two dark hair goddesses equally. Hedy Lamarr, if you didn't know, has a very high IQ's, and the US government kept her secret brain works for them a secret. She's both brain and beauty, and that happens to be most attractive "off-the-chart" qualities to guys like me. Hedy and Lucille Ball shared similar eyes features. Vivien Leigh captures my heart, as well, because she's got the softer more girlish body of the two, and she plays more youthful spirited roles than Hedy Lamarr's roles, I think. But I do very much agrees with what was said by Danny Florry's comment. They're both incredible beautiful goddesses of the golden-era in their own rights, and neither is better than the other nor one can diminish the other in beauties.

acefalcon I don't think that Vivien had a "girly" body. In Cleopatra, it looked too young and disproportionate compared to her face. That's not a big deal. Just an observation. Personally, I think that both Hedy and Vivien are beautiful and look very similar in these pictures!

@theblueangel28 I think you put that beautifully....both beautiful women but Vivian was a more dynamic presence on film. Vivian was born to be on stage/film ...to be admired...Hedy , as I have been reading lately, seems to have had a brilliant mind and contributed to many concepts and inventions that are still in use today.

Two of my favorite beauties. Vivien is my favorite of all. Just two gorgeous ladies. I love Vivien, Hedy, Ava, Elizabeth and Grace.

Amazing…in some pictures they really do look like identical twins! Both were undeniably stunning beauties!

WELL DONE - beautiful film - both equally perfect legends - although Vivien probably had the advantage of what I would say were the better roles.

What a pleasure to see the two ladies paired together, both so lovely. My thought is that Hedy Lamar had a somewhat more lush or earthy, sexual quality while Vivien had a more ethereal quality.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought this. I had glanced quickly at a few pics of Hedy and thought they were Vivien. I just had to look a little bit longer to realize it wasn't her. They have a lot of the same features and looks- but still, Vivien will always be the most stunning and unbelievable beauty to me. Like hatelizwebber said, you just want to touch her to see if such a beauty really could ever exist... and it most certainly did.

Outstanding and creative! One of my fave videos (instant winner!) Two of the most beautiful divas! I would say they look more like sisters rather than twins (although you did an awesome job of picking the right pics as twins!!). Vivian's face is more heart-shaped and Hedy is more oval, Vivian's nose bridge is smaller and more turned up (and button at the end). And their eyes are a bit different. But totally amazing! Thank you!!!

The difference is the eyes. Vivien's eyes were lighter, conveyed her feelings and cat like. More captivating, and her face is more feminine

Both are beautiful, but Vivien's acting is much better. As someone else here mentioned, Hedy has some problem with smiling. I saw her smiling in one of her movies which is rather dull.

I've always thought Hedy had a bland smile and I now realise why she rarely smiled in her photos and consequently had a blank emotionless bored look to her which I don't really appreciate. Vivien Leigh had one of the best smiles, along with Rita Hayworth.

Interesting video. I always thought they were very similar; sisters perhaps more than twins. They were born almost exactly a year apart (Vivien being a year older). Both stunning ladies. Any list of most beautiful actresses, these are my top two.

Vivs eyes were as great as Liz Taylors. They were incredibly gorgeous. Great eyes make up for a wealth of sins.....always have always will.

Growing up these two ladies were to me the most beautiful.

I prefer Vivien

They're striking resemblance has been commented on by thousands of movie fans. But you are the one who put a visual together! Its lovely!

to me, no one could outshine Hedy's beauty and possibly her brains, but their resemblance was often uncanny with the help of the Hollywood machine. It's so sad what happened to Leigh in the end.

Yeah, Vivian was a better actress....but Hedy did have mystery and more beautiful eyes!

This is a wonderful tribute to both of these beautiful Actresses.

Both beautiful but Hedy brilliant because of her inventions which were forerunners to things in electronics we enjoy today.

I admire both of these extraordinary women for their individual talents, their intelligence, their bravery, and of course their haunting and ravishing good looks. Thanks for the video.
