► D E S C R I P T I O N
A Streetcar Named Desire is a 1951 American drama film, adapted from Tennessee Williams's Pulitzer Prize-winning 1947 play of the same name. It tells the story of a southern belle, Blanche DuBois, who, after encountering a series of personal losses, leaves her aristocratic background seeking refuge with her sister and brother-in-law in a dilapidated New Orleans tenement. The Broadway production and cast was converted to film with several changes.

I always found Blanche to be a very difficult character to watch, but I thought this was very fitting for her. I tried including famous quotes of hers, and I think they were quite choppy, so sorry about that :(
Also that ending was really bad, I don't know what happened

Blanche de Bois is one of those characters that explore the nature of womanhood. Her beauty fades as she ages and her sanity does too, she only finds comfort in alcohol and meaningless sex. Sexual violence, alcoholism, poverty, psychosis and homosexuality explored in the 1940's gives such a unique viewpoint.
