Rby had grown bored with the sport while Vito finally realized he had something to prove when it came to folkstyle. Its great that he has bigger dreams buy this is no small feat and the things required to win this tournament should serve him well in international competition. He figured out how to win at a style that wasn't as fun for him coming from a freestyle pedigree. OW!

Vito put on a master class. One of the most dominant NCAA final victories I’ve ever seen over another supremely high level wrestler. He separated himself from the field. Speed, slickness, strength, mat awareness, IQ…Vito is the total package. Long Island baby!
After watching Vito handle Fix in the fashion he did I thought maybe Fix was battling injury or something along those lines..but nah Vito is simply elite, it’s in his blood and he showed us the next level tonight..amazing display of skill, mat awareness and speed against a formidable opponent

This is one of the ‘true lies’ in wrestling (like ‘chest to chest’). You don’t cross your leg *in front*. A cross step can increase your range dramatically, especially when attacking the back leg in an opponent’s staggered stance. And you don’t have to be ‘all-world’ to do it.
That second takedown was poetry in motion... unbelievable.
Cael throwing the brick to get RBY a breather will forever be my favorite finals moment.

Big 10 doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. March is the only thing that matters. If you don't think RBY is humble or appreciative you are mistaken. It seems like he is soft-spoken and more on the humble side. He's not super egotistical or cocky at all and that's easy to see. You may have analyzed him incorrectly. I think you just don't like RBY, which is a problem, and was signified by you being happy to see him absolutely schooled
Dude already knew he had RBY’s number the whole time and he showed it 💯💪🏾
The most exciting match all night.
Roman only scored 2 offensive points, just one takedown. Dominating the two-time NCAA champ.
Looked like an Olympic gold medalist out there. Speed and technique are world class.
"Don't forget to enjoy what you're doing." Arujau echoes other solid champions like Retherford who craved the excitement of just running out on the mat. Remember Zain's enthusiastic smile at the end of a match? Looked just like Vito's. Lee, RBY, Fix and maybe a few others possibly and slowly drained the fun away from their literal, time-consuming, life-enveloping "passions?" I had a coach who liked to say "If you're putting this much time into it, might as well be good at it and have some fun." With all the MMA training RBY's been doing lately (and seeing Nickal's recent success), watch to see just how badly he takes the loss: probably not too hard with one foot already planted outside the amateur rectangle and into the octagon of riches [he hopes]. Well-deserved reward to the hungrier competitor who exemplifies wrestling at its finest, with the family interview/reaction to underline even more why he won.

Vito’s face was the best…like “you shouldn’t have even tried because you knew you didn’t have a chance”.
I have been coming back to this every couple of days to enjoy this. I like RBY and I think he's a hell of a wrestler, but as others have said his style leaves much to be desired. Vito just elevated his game so much in this match, RBY looked shell shocked and ultimately I think it shows what would happen to him regularly on the international scene against the upper tier. NCAA has to get back to calling more stalls so the action opens up more.
Vito just keeps getting better and better. I love watching him wrestle.
I had the chance to see Vito warm up this year at Penn for over an hour up close.. the dude is unbelievably fast.. love his energy and sick moves

Arujau was perhaps the most impressive finalist of the night, along with Starocci. Where has this Arujau been hiding? After that performance, you can make a legit argument that he is the best pound for pound wrestler in the country entering next season. Even over Brooks and Starocci -- and that's coming from a Penn State guy. Shout out to O'Toole who wrestled a really gutsy performance and proved his mettle as well. Great night of wrestling.
