    It's also poorly absorbed in the large intestine. Similarly to how our microbiome makes b vitamins, but we don't absorb B vitamins made in the large intestine well, k2 is also made, but barely absorbed. This is why dietary sources are needed, but lacking in a western diet, some are making a comeback though. Fermented foods Grass fed ruminate animal products Grass fed ruminate meats

    Vitamin K is an important factor in bone health and wound healing. Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin that makes proteins for healthy bones and normal blood clotting. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, vitamin K helps produce four of the 13 proteins needed for blood clotting.

    Starting from 3:10 2 mistakes: These 2 enzymes does not add gamma carboxyglutamic acids to clotting factos. First enzyme you mentioned change some glutamate residues in clotting factors and other not clotting factors protein (as post translational modification) to GLA (Gamma caboxygluatmic acid residues); 2nd enzyme you mentioned just reduce the used oxidized Vitamin K in the first step of 2 steps to reach fully reduced ready to use Vitamin K

    One could argue, and many do, that if a mothers milk is deficient in anything, making a baby deficient, it means the mother doesn't have enough of it. Milk for an infant had to deliver all nutrition the infant needed for 10's of thousands of years, and evolution would have converged on the needed values, both in delivery to and need of the infant. Failure would result in loss of fitness, and overtime, elimination from the gene pool vs those more fit. This could be used to better determine adults requirements for vitamins and minerals.

    You don't know what you're talking about because when you are on warfarin and you use vitamin K your vitamin K is absorbed and work properly and this provents you from getting the full therapeutic range from the Warfarin because you are more likely to get a clot because you have eaten something like spinach with a high vitamin K and that is why they ask you not to eat vegetables that have high vitamin K while you are on Warfarin so I don't know why you're telling people that it doesn't work in your body when you are on warfarin that is all a lie because it does work very well so well that you could possibly get a blood clot because you have been eating vitamin K rich foods, so everybody don't listen to the man in this video he is talking rubbish because if you do eat vitamin K while you are on warfarin it will work properly your vitamin K will kick in and it will protect you by giving you blood clots when you need them and if you are on warfarin you will have less protection because the vitamin K absorbed would be in your blood why you are trying to prevent blood clots by being on Warfarin and this is a very bad combination.

  • @jjmedicine

    @jjmedicine

    Thanks for your comment. As I said in this lesson, warfarin CAN cause a "functional" vitamin K deficiency (prevents vitamin K from working/functioning), that's the reason you want to take warfarin if you have a particular condition that makes you prone to blood clots (precisely because warfarin prevents vitamin K from working properly - because vitamin K is involved in producing clotting factors). Notice that I did not say that it decreases absorption of Vitamin K. The problem you are mentioning is that if you are ingesting more vitamin K, the "extra" vitamin K can overcome the amount of warfarin you have in your system, leading to increased risk of clotting. That's why it's important to check your INR regularly to ensure you have the right warfarin dose for your particular needs (depending on your diet etc.). Look up many medical references, and you'll see warfarin is listed as a cause of functional vitamin k deficiency. Hope that helps - please see other sources for more information, and please be respectful!
