Still India number one, still rocking. That just says what a god-like talented player he is. Once in a generational talent. The guy was born to play chess. I am just grateful to be born in his era. What he did paved the way for 60 gms India has today. Still we are far away from getting another Vishy Anand. That just shows the legend he is.

Magnus is probably the GOAT, but this man has to be in the top 5 of greatest chess players of all time. Immensely strong, immensely durable: just a hell of a player. I mean Vishy Anand is the greatest Indian chess player ever and one of the greatest chess players ever without even a slightest of doubt . But I believe he is one of the greatest sports men India has ever produced, in the league of Major Dhyan Chand, Sachin Tendulkar etc. I have always admired Vishy Anand as a kid and even without having any understanding of chess, I used to read about him in newspapers and would feel so happy when he used to win matches or world championships. However as I grew older and learnt more about chess, more about him I realized what an absolute legend this guy is. I mean this dude became the first grandmaster in a country where chess was thought of as a joke. That was a big feat in itself. But this is just the beginning. Then this guy went on to win the world championship five times literally coming from a country with zero chess background and paving the paths for himself. What he did in chess paved the path for where India is now with 60 gms and all . Now gms are funded in India they are trained properly and all. Still even after all this Vishy anand is still India number one at the age of 50. This shows the absolute legend and god like he is in the field of chess. Even with all the support and training no Indian chess GM has even come close to what Vishy is. Even after so many decades India still is in search of its next Vishy Anand.
