The record belongs to Vassili Smyslov who was ranked 9th at age 63 years. Still in todays context when the world championship challenger is only 17 years old, it is indeed amazing. Anand is the only player above 50 years in the top 50 and there are only 4 players above 50 years in the top 100, as of today.

Today all chess playing country's have chess academy's including India so todays gen is very lucky. Anand learnt mainly from books as a youngster.

Since he was Asia's first World Champion and Indias first chess grandmaster i dont see him learning from any world champions. And access to Tals games means through books not by training. Compare that to Kasparov who lived at a proper chess academy and was trained by former world champion.

I have the utmost respect for anyone who goes deep into the subject of their choice. Vishwanathan Sir breathes chess and his sheer love and dedication for the game even after so many years of playing it and being one of its greatest players is beyond commendable. Such passion for anything goes beyond any kind of materialism and is nothing less than meditation.

The way Vishy played the first game, he let the attack come in so much, that I would be sweating to see 2 rooks and a queen hovering near my king. We saw right through that attack that he will be able to defend it and come out on top. Really shows, that sometimes reacting passively to an opponent's threat is not a good option but a better might be a counterattack. Really great game.

Very nice! I'm glad you discussed the importance of opening prep these days. I think a lot of older master level players are in denial about the importance of opening prep (to some degree) starting at the intermediate level. These days, even at the amateur level is hard to play without opening prep. Amateurs might not understand all the moves they memorized but if they can lead their opponent into some trap or some other memorized line then its enough to win the game against a player of similar strength. I neglected this area of my game for many years and I'm sure it hindered my growth. These days I work on all aspects of the game and my rating is rising fast.

Stop virtue signaling. It is not only completely counter-productive, it is actually insulting to whomever you're virtue signaling for. Besides, Anand knows he's not the youngest anymore. Live long enough and, well, you realize that, well... you age. If you haven't come to accept the fact that people age and do just get older, well, that's a _you_ problem. Stop bothering other people with that _you_ problem and just seek help with solving that _you_ problem. Thanks, have a nice day and, well, enjoy growing older like the rest of us.

I would love to see a simul with vishy vs nemo+levy+sagar+botez sisters. I think Levy & sagar would be ofc way too hard opponents & it's kinda difficult but like comon it's the old but not obsolete genius goat of chess vs current chess content creators.

Without time odds and disturbances, I think Vishy will still win 10 out of 10. Probably need to add some GMs in the team to even get a chance.

Nemsko must be very good (hearing about her for the first time). I have played Vishy in person long back and he is so good(!) that it is intimidating. Very intimidating.

Curiously 17:39 Nxf4 Anand Concludes after Nxf4 he is winning but probably after Kf4 he is not ! and it is still a draw by force by correct play.
