The Greatest Chess Endgame ever | Vishy Anand vs Magnus Carlsen | Global Chess League 2023
Спорт
If you would like to witness one of the best endgames ever played, you are in for some luck! 5-time World Champion Vishy Anand (Ganges Grandmasters) sat opposite another 5-time World Champion Magnus Carlsen (SG Alpine Warriors) at the 7th round of the Global Chess League 2023. The game was a slow strategic battle with both sides maneuvring in the first half of the game. Then Magnus realized that he had to win in order to let his team have any chances to beat his opposing team. And so he sacrificed a pawn. The game then went into a knight vs bishop endgame that was so sharp and complex that very few grandmasters could make sense of what was going on. With themes like domination, underpromotion, stalemate and much more, this is an endgame worth visiting and revisiting many many times in your life! Check out this battle along with the commentary of IM Sagar Shah and enjoy.

@erenjeager3592 i can understand what u must be going through But carlson have 1 knight 1 bishop and with the promotion of that black pawn he would have got queen Now it's quite obvious to mate a king with queen with the help of knight and bishop . To help u understand , consider anand have traded queen for queen with carlson then with the help of bishop nd knight carlson would have killed Anand's remaining 2 pawn and would have made queen of his remaining one pawn . I m a beginner , i might be wrong 🥶

What a match! seriously! The commentary made it more thrilling!
Magnus is brilliant in Endgames. I had been watching and admiring Vishy's games for 25 + years and his previous three consecutive victories in this tournament was a real feast to vishy's Admirers. Vishy defeats many GM's who defeat Magnus but don't know wt happens to him as most of the time he looses to Magnus.
@kunalsingh4418
10 ай бұрын
It's more like if Magnus is motivated enough nobody can beat him. U want him bored out of his mind, but if Carlsen gets serious, he is the player with the highest rating ever in history of chess, a player whose average rating over last 10 years is higher than peak of almost all the players in history. So yeah Vishy is not playing any worse, Magnus just respects Vishy so much to always bring his A game tô the table. This endgame was just a clear example of that.

Then i would love to know your view on pragg vs magnus
I also love your commentating. That kind of editing and real passion promote the game superbly. And to see the respect between these two is too cool.
I love how they discussed after the game! ❤️
Never thought a chess commentary can be so exciting. One can learn the game based on your videos.
At around 13 minutes, you can see Vishy go from a concrete plan to questioning everything, and Magnus squeezing life into a locked position. Vishy usually grabs his own piece and shuffles it around in his hand, but as magnus gets more life into the position you can literally see vishy start to lose it....he reaches for pieces squeezes them in fustration, and then continues to think forgetting to grab one. You literally see him breaking, CRAZY GAME
What a game! So masterful for the players and very exciting commentary!
There are not enough exclamation points in existence for Magnus' under promotion to the knight. For Vishy, it was like being ambushed in a dark alley. Fantastic commentary Sagar!
VERSATILITY IS KEY! MAGnificent strategy was played! It’s so damn crazy how Magnus is so versatile in Chess. Very rare thought process that not even many GMs would think of. Most of their thoughts would be suffocated in a draw thought process an that’s what makes Magnus special.
Props to the commentator. That was the most passionate, educated, and exciting chess commentary I’ve heard. Amazing game. Beautiful.
Watching this can only result in one of two things for a mortal: you either want to play chess, or you never want to play chess again, because what's the point. Brilliant and genius players.
What a game!!! And I really enjoyed the commentary , you are also great !
Both smiling was the moment of the match... Magnus underpromoting into knight was the turning point 😮
What a great time to be involved in Chess and to have enjoyed both their Chess careers!
I know nothing about chess or even how to play it but I love watching Magnus play, it must be the competitive side of me but something about the stress ,confusion and distress one can do to its competitor is beyond most sports.
Chess is a game played with 16 pawns, 4 rooks, 4 knights, 4 bishops, 2 kings and 2 queens distributed equally in two different colors i.e. black and white where two people competes against each other.. and at last Magnus Carlsen wins.
Vishy kept moving the black knight which was off the board, twice he tried to cover with white pieces, he knew all along, that was brilliant. In the end Magnus reached all the way to grab the knight back on to the table. Watch 12:40, 13:41, 13:57 and thereafter

I initially didn't agree until I saw the last time stamp, and i think you are right. It looks like towards the end, he tries to bury the knights behind other pieces.
I’ve been following Sagar’s brilliant commentary on this tournament. Yesterday I just so happened to watch live. It was my first time watching live pro chess. Wow!!! What a treat!! Amazing match ♟️
*Two greatest of the game playing together 🙏*
Thank you for the commentary good sir. Outstanding job and great match!
I don’t watch much chess but this commentator made it seem like someone was scoring a soccer goal the whole time. Gooooollllo😂. Good stuff!
So cool to see these two playing each other again in such a competitive high skill match.
Vishy face fell into pieces when he saw the knight. What a game!. Extraordinary players.
Great game and Great commentary ✨️💥
This is the best chess channel that I've ever watched. The commentary is intense from start to finish. Well done my man.
In the endgame the gods have placed magnus
Magnus... approaching the tournament hall...he takes a right turn... Are we commenting Formula 1 here?
sagar commentating while analyzing the game like a grandmaster.. this man is a machine.
