Visiting This Country Is Like Going Back In Time! 🇪🇷 (

This place isn't Italy. It isn't Cuba, and it's not the Middle East either. This is Eritrea, and there's nowhere else like it on earth. Due to a history of colonization by Italy and near-constant war with it's neighbor Ethiopia, this country has a very distinctive look--and it feels like it hasn't changed in 50 years.
After visiting the capital city of Asmara, it was time to tour the entire country. We would visit lands that very few foreigners have seen--at least in the last 30 years. Ruins and remains from the Ottomans, Egyptians, Italians and Ethiopians lay waiting to be explored, as if they were destroyed just yesterday. This was one of the most interesting trips I had ever taken.

Tommy, thanks for showcasing what is one of my favourite countries in the world, after a lifetime of travels. I visited Eritrea a dozen or so times between 1997 and 2002, but due to the nature of my work, I will probably sadly not be able to go back in the near future. We ran a student empowerment project at the university of Asmara, and unfortunately most of the participants are now based in the US or in Europe, and last time I tried, I was denied a visa. I would love to visit again, I can feel the scorching heat of Massawa, the history of Keren and all the odd places in Asmara again. This and the previous video took me back 20 years, and also to other places, like Mendefera, Adi Quala, Dekamhare, Assab... Eritrea is a truly unique place, and is a main reason why I kept on travelling all my life.

In the late 90’s a lot of Eritrean women were given work visas in Las Vegas. I worked for a human resource company that was a medical part of that process so I interacted with easily a few hundred of them. They were extremely polite, respectful, and very witty. Many of them spoke more than 2 languages as well. Most of the women very fit and beautiful. They definitely stood out from other women from that continent.

Freedom of independent just to celebrate independent days in all over the world, including in Addis? Or what ? Most of Eritrean left or fled Eritrea 🇪🇷 like bees 🐝 as soon as they get the so-called independent. The majority of them are living overseas as refugees and can not even go back to Eritrea and do an investment there. Eritrea is an empty country. this is why there are no universities, colleges or public infrastructures, no constitution or election, and so on. Now Eritrean is filling up in Addis quickly than Agames. They are even buying homes and doing businesses in the country they hated and seceded from..no internet, electricity, water 💧 etc Again, here in Addis & in other parts of Ethiopia, Eritrean are surpassing or more Eritrean are working and Living than Agames from the north. Among other things, just a couple of years back, the "Bees" from Medri BaHri, saved the "Hive" from being destroyed by its "wild bees." Shortly we will witness a variety of honey being produced within the land of BaaHriNeghestat and definitely share with the unfortunate bees in the "Hive" that are not blessed with good "queens" that take care of their own.
