Visiting the Satterfields for Bear Grease, Flowers, & Fellowship
We drove over to Robbinsville, NC to visit with Tom Orr and the Satterfields. Tom shared a jar of bear grease he canned with us and some tasty vegetables from his garden. Of course I had to buy more plants 😊 We had a great time of fellowshipping with Betty, Pat, Quincy, Tom and his grandson.

Quincy and his hounds are the best ambassadors. What a treat. Thanks for taking us along to visit with the Satterfields and Mr. Orr.
My mama used to call impatients "blooming idiots" because they just kept blooming all summer! That little Quincy has the best accent!

I always love seeing Mr. TOM , and the Satterfield family. Precious people these generations sadly are fading away. Im 72 in another month these are my kinda people . Theres not no telling what all Mr, Tom's faced and seen in his life. I could listened to him all day. Such respect for the older generation.

Well early happy birthday. I’ll be 72 in July too.
The old man is a true Appalachian.
I love good people. Sharing food from garden's is the kindest and most special gift I think. Someone's hard work being shared to feed family and tummy's.
Those are some of my favorite kind of folks to be around.. good conversation and nothing pretentious.
Katie looks radiant here, beautiful smile. Looking very relaxed and happy. Edit: The problem with commenting too soon is you usually gave something else to say! That little boy is a charmer!

Agree she does look so pretty. If arranged marriages were still a thing I’d be making a deal with Matt & Tipper. My youngest son is her age, born August 96 & she’s exactly what I would want in a daughter-in-law!! ❤️

"My kinda people". Matt said the right thing.People so loving and giving.Id love to sit and listen to Tom alday.💯🙏🏼
The Satterfields are the sweetest folks. So glad I got to meet them & buy some of their plants. Good people. ❤😊❤🙏
That little Quincy is so adorable and smart! I love how you interact with each other.
That’s my kinda people too. I could set & listen all day. That bear grease looks good. I used to get it in Cherokee, NC when I lived in Sylva. I used it in my cornbread, fried taters, I fried eggs in it, & they were delicious. When I ran out, the children were the first to notice that my potatoes didn’t taste as good 😳😅 and I told them I was out of bear grease. It gave my cast iron pans such a nice glaze. I miss using that. Thank you for taking us along. I sure enjoyed getting to visit folks like I used to . ❤🙏🏻❤️
Hi y'all, I love it when y'all go to Satterfields. Quincy is the cutest and he knows his plants. When he asked you Tipper if you wanted a black raspberry ,I yelled yes she does. I loved Matt's grin when he was listening to Mr. Tom, especially when he was talking about gardening and hunting. That was up Matt's alley. Katie is glowing now that Ira is here. Thank you for the ride. Love y'all.

A beautiful drive to beautiful people you just can't beat that. It was nice to see Quincy again he's as cute as ever.
Mr. Orr is what’s known as an Appalachian Treasure! He is a great storyteller!

Mr. Tom reminded me of my Great Grandpa Burleson. He was a great man. He died when I was 11. I miss him still Grandpa was quite a story teller.
They take beautiful care of their plants, that's for sure❤
He is absolutely adorable. And such a sweet man.
Such a beautiful part of Gods world you live in!
I love to hear Tom talk and Betty and Pat as well as little Quincy!
That bear grease will condition and waterproof your boots👍🏼 those are big hearted people🌻
Bear grease is great to put on leather boots, mukluks, or moccasins. Also leather gloves, leather coats, baseball/softball gloves. Also a deep moisturizer for our skin.
Tipper I just love it when you visit down there and talking to the old timer as we call them around here there nothing like sitting around and talking to good people like that even Quincy I just to here him talk you can tell he's being brought up right.
I love listening to the wisdom of old folks…especially old country folks….a lot of livin there….
What a beautiful drive!!! I loved the Satterfields. They were precious. I adored Quincy. He was precious !!! God bless all of you.
Good times. People who never lived in the mountains are so missing out on how slow life is and how good people are. He reminds me of my old neighbor Coleman.
I enjoyed seein y'all sittin around talkin. When I was growin up I remember both sides of my family sittin around talkin and my aunts and my grandpa who were from the South always had somethin yummy to eat. Especially my Aunt Lacey. She had a "spread" of all kinds of bread, pies and cakes on her long table. It's true that there's nothin like Southern Hospitality! 🙂
Really enjoyable video I love the older man's accent and the way that he talked when I gave you potatoes he said those are for you uns i haven't heard that for a very long time. Surely made me smile

One thing I love about Appalachia is the lack of pretension!
Tipper love that you have introduced us to the Satterfields and others, makes me appreciate the people and how down-to-earth they really are. Love your post keep up the good work. Thank you.
Oh my gosh, I have the privilege of watching your posts, and I’m so thankful, my daddy is just like this! I still have him, and I’m so thankful!
Quincy is so personable and helpful! (And a great photographer too.)
What a lovely visit! I just adore that fella who lives his entire life doin things like my grandfather did…he is so knowledgeable & can live completely off the land I’d say .., Blessings, Allison 👩🌾🐓🌻😊
Hi tipper and family They are my kind of people too My daddy could really tell stories Good people are good to be around Take care
Oh! The bitty baby piggies (toes). 😍 Great people and glad to hear the traditions are still being lived and taught.
Quincey is just so cute.
Grandpa, I like how you drive with that very precious cargo riding with you in that truck - grandmother, mother, and grandchild. Be safe. God Bless.
So good to see Mr. Orr again. How sweet for him to share his bear grease with ya'll along with squash and potatoes. I always enjoy your visits with the Satterfields
Reminds me of times when I was Quincy’s age. Give anything to re-live those times. Thank you for sharing all your videos.
Beautiful drive! Please let us know how the bear grease taste!
What a lovely family. I would love to sit and listen to that man ask him questions, for me our elders are the best to listen to. Our Katie is looking beautiful. This was fun. God bless.
Your friends are special, thanks for letting us in on your visit! Sweet little boy and his dogs!
Appalachians are just the best People you can find anywhere! ❤️
Oh, Tipper, seeing the mountains, especially on your way back, that’s just so home for me! So beautiful! The old fellow was a treat to listen to, but a bit of work, too. I’ve been away from that for 50-some years, and my ear struggles with a bit now. He was something talk ya out bear hunting.
I understood so much that man was speaking. Wow! I have family in Chester Gap, VA. I can relate. My co-workers wouldn't understand what he's saying😅. I loved it. ❤
Hey Y'all thank you so much for taking us along with you to Sattersfield again. I just adore Quincey and his family and his dogs. That bear fat was amazing and I bet it would make some good gravy like Matt said, also those taters looked mighty good too. I'm so Glad that Katie got to go as well I know she was looking forward to meeting Quincey and seeing all the beautiful flowers and plants. I hope you have a wonderful day and enjoy those taters.😊❤🙏🏻
I love Tom's accent. It makes me happy just to hear it, especially considering how accents are dying all around the country. God bless him and everyone in this video.
That was such a gorgeous ride thanks for taking us along😊
Hello Lovely Family. Thank you so much for the beautiful adventure through God's Beautiful Country! So enjoyable. Thank you for sharing, Family.
I love to sit and listen to people tell about their experiences during their lifetime. You can learn alot by just sitting and listening. Thanks for sharing the video
My maiden name is Orr and my father’s family is from North Carolina. Not a very common name and it’s always’ an interesting to see where people come from. I love watching your videos because it makes me feel like I’m visiting back home. 😊💗🙏
My goodness, what a gorgeous boy Quincy is ; so kind to his dogs. Great video, such lovely, lovely people everywhere you look , makes my soul sing ❤
Quincy is such a sweet and well-mannered little guy. I now have a craving for black berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream.
What great folks you introduce us to on your videos. We all loved little Quincy when we first met him and his dogs are just so sweet. Enjoyed hear Mr Tom tell about the bear. Y’all couldn’t have found any better folks than the ones y’all visited with in this video.
Great picture of Rosie and Rattler. Quincy is growing!
What a lovely boy Quincy is ! I really enjoyed this, loved the film of the ride too. The mountains and the view are beautiful x
I love watching you drive down those beautiful country roads. I miss that so much. Bear grease is very interesting. I know the Native Americans used it a lot but hadn't realized it is still used today. Yes, I still say Mr. Quincy is salesman of the year. He's got the gift.
I love that little kid, Quincy. He's adorable. Your visits to the Satterfields are some of my favorite videos. :)

Oh, I really enjoyed that. Loved the tale of tracking and shooting the bear. And Quincy is so smart in the way of the plants and woods. I wish he would never be exposed to some of the crazy things people believe and how some act these days. I just can't believe my eyes and ears sometimes!
Oh, that beautiful Western North Carolina accent just sounds like home. Mr Tom talks just like my late Pawpaw. I miss him so very much. I could sit and listen to him talk all day. My husband is from Chicago and couldn't understand a word, but I could!! Thanks for today, Tipper. ❤
I saw those precious little feet of Ira. So glad y’all got to go back to Satterfield’s and Ira got to make his first trip there. I bet he will be a regular visitor with you, Katie, and his Aunt Corie.
Truly a very special treat to listen to your friend tell his story💙 thank you. Brings tears of happiness remembering days gone by living a short span in Kentucky, I met some pretty cool folks there. Peace be with you all
Great scenery on the drive .😊
Oh my goodness!! I'd beat a path to that mans house for some of that rhubarb and strawberry jelly!! It's been years since I've had any!! Bless his heart, I could sit and listen to him for days! Thanks for taking us along with you.❤

Fantastic to see Katie, the old ways are the best way to live. Visit your family and neighbors, sitting in the shade of old tree, drinking ice sweet tea. Hug ira.
This was so much fun! I absolutely love meeting and chatting with Mr. Tom. Yes, I can understand him, but most youngsters probably won't be able to. That was a great description about harvesting a bear. My son tried so hard to understand Mr. Tom, but he missed every 4th word.
Wonderful video!! Precious people and Quincy is absolutely adorable💙…his parents are doing a great job raising him!

You certainly live in a very beautiful area !! I would say your family is very very blessed!
I'd love to live close enough to visit there! Such nice people and sweet that Matt and Katie got to meet them. Our local nurseries seemed to gear up for Mother's Day, then petered out. Went to Home Depot, tho, and got some goodies to entice the bees to newer garden area. Third time was a charm planting beans due to a ground squirrel. Guess he got tired of them!
