Visiting All Brat Movie Locations in St. Petersburg 🇷🇺

Комедия

SUPPORT ME ON PATREON: / nfkrz
A while ago I made a RUSSIAN MOVIE REVIEW of the film Brat (1997), translated as "Brother". This movie directed by Alexei Balabanov and starring Sergei Bodrov Jr. became a cult classic in Russia and has also left an impression on a lot of Westerners. If you watched the movie, you know Brat was set in Saint Petersburg. In today's video I'm going to be visiting locations from the movie Brat in real life and seeing how much they changed since 1997. Hope you enjoy! Smash like and sub for more thx xoxo

Tbh it would probably be the other way around in most cases lol. Cemeteries in Russia are almost never treated as parks. Most would only go to them in order to visit a family member who has passed away, while in Europe, my experience shows me that many go to them just to have a walk. Not sure whether this is a cultural difference or something else. Could also be that cemeteries in Russia tend to be on village / town / city outskirts, or even outside of them, so I doubt most would walk for an hour through nothing in order to get to a cemetery. Plus, they usually aren't all that pleasant to walk through, since most are relatively new, and feel almost temporary, unlike this lutheran one in st. pete

Did you know the origins of the Russian word for railway station? It’s named after the railway station in a part of London called Vauxhall when a visiting Russian dignitary in the 1800s was so impressed with it he took the concept back with him and hence the term Voksal meaning station in Russian.

My favourite video of yours in a while, Roman. It was your review of Brat that introduced me to the film, and I loved what I saw when I watched it. Russian movies vary wildly in quality from what I know about, but Brat is great storytelling, and I honestly wish I understood Russian to fully get the word play of some lines. For example I think Kruhgly is a good villan, but most of his puns don't seem to translate well in most versions I've seen, and so I feel like I'm missing out on something with his character.
