Virtual shelling ~ I find a bucket list shell! Hunting for tiny shells and beach critters.

Come virtual shelling with me as I identify the shells I find, including a bucket list shell I've been hunting down for over a year!
Southwest Florida keeps providing me with amazing beach finds! I just finished a shell mirror project and wanted to find some additional shells for future projects. Come virtual shelling with me as I look for crowned conch shells and critters over at Bunche Beach, Fort Myers Florida. I don't typically sit in one spot too long and will walk up and down the beach, zig zagging on the beach and in the water to find as many interesting shells to share with you! On this particular day I finally took the time to really comb through some super tiny shells and I was rewarded with one of my bucket list shells.
Come virtually shelling and I'll let you know about the beach we're at and all the fun things we find along the way!

You have become my new favorite channel to binge-watch. I’m a college biology student, living in Montana. My hobby is birdwatching, and I actually crossed off one of my bucket-list birds today, so there must be some luck in the air! I’ve been to the ocean only twice in my whole life. I love learning about nature, and shells are really new to me. Thank you for making your videos educational, humorous, and aesthetically pleasing. I hope to visit the ocean sometime soon in the future, and I already feel more prepared for beachcombing :) thank you again, I want you to know how much I love your videos

Congrats on YOUR bucket-list bird! Isn't it exciting to see/find that gem for yourself? I'm not as good with birds as I am with the shells but I find all the creatures I come upon really interesting. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment. I hope when you do get to visit the ocean you will find some great finds. Sometimes I like to think of beachcombing a little bit like going to a museum. It's always more interesting if you know what your'e looking at so I hope I can give people an even better reason to love the beach :) Good luck with finals!!

The beige coloring reminds me of fossilized shells but I can't tell if those are. Definitely older anyway. Yeah, the shot of the remote stretch of beach could have been Honeymoon Island. I found a twin to the cute little true tulip the other day! Beautiful live pear whelk! Congrats on the wentletrap!! Glad you showed the 2 shells together cuz a lot of people confuse the two. Yay! The periwinkle has been found! Was watching a reddish egret chase food the other day too. Lol I've never seen a whitish one unless I thought it was something else. Good for you returning the live shell! Thanks, Sharmon. No dredging yet at Honeymoon that I can see... xxoo

Come in the Spring! That's when some of those egg casings will wash up. I never paid them much mind other than inspecting them but I think from now on if there are little shells inside I might keep them :) How's the shelling up in the NE? I want to visit St. Augustine and I was going to try to get a beach visit in too.

Nice video, but the shell you identified as a true tulip, I believe was a faded banded tulip. Congrats on the wentletrap. I have found hundreds thru time. The lighthouse at Sanibel is a great place to locate them. Sometimes I scoop up piles of small shells, and take home to check out under a magnifying glass. Also, many of the shells being found are half of a shell, which might be pointed out as that are usually found whole as a pair. Harder to find together. Your identification of species is very good for educating others. Keep up the good work. Enjoy... JoAnne Wade

I will probably have to disagree with you on the banded tulip vs. true tulip but the smaller ones that aren't in perfect share are more difficult to identify - that's for sure. And I sure hope I can one day say I've found hundreds of wentletraps - that's amazing! I'm going to keep looking! Thanks so much for watching!

I was at the harbor this morning and saw the most beautiful 8 inch long horse conch all bright orange and ready for my collection. Then I saw him moving the wrong way and I knew horse conchs don't crawl that way. I gathered up half a dozen empty shells including some pretty good size lightening welks hoping I could coax him into moving into a new home. Nope. He was bound and determined that he was not getting evicted. I gave up after an hour and put him back. But I'm going to be going down to the harbor looking for him every day hoping he decides to let me have his home. I REALLY want that horse conch.

Yay! I'm so happy for you that you found a wentletrap! 👌🏻🥳 When you said that you had found a bucket list shell, I thought it was a giant horseconch. Boy, was I wrong. 😁 This wentletrap is so cute and beautiful! ❤ And I'm in love with the tiny shells.😍 When I'm on a holiday near the beach, I'll always look for tiny shells. I use them on the cards and photo albums I make. But I've never found such gorgeous shells as you did. Only grey and white clam shells here to be found. And some light pink shells. Think if I was on this beach, I would be sitting in the sand all day, searching for tiny beauties. 😂 The beach is gorgeous! Love it that there is so much nature and no houses or hotels near by. Just mangroves and other vegetation. Thank you for taking me out on this gorgeous day, looking for treasures from mother nature. Wishing you a wonderful week! Sending you lots of love from the Netherlands. ❤ xoxo

Yes, the giant horse conch still eludes me but I'll get it one of these days. And a decent Scotch Bonnet too! I was very fortunate to have found that little mighty wentletrap. I've been really wanting to find one and it's taken me over a year! But it was like that with the baby's ears too. Soon as we found one we started finding them more regularly. Bunche Beach is a great beach to explore. And another first happened on this trip - someone took my flip flops! I've been leaving my shoes at beach entrances forever and this is the first time someone took my shoes! I figure they need them more than I do! Hugs from Florida! xoxo
