This talk is realistic, but deeply discouraging. It shows why students from wealthy families are FAR more likely to go into medicine than those from middle and lower incomes. If medicine is serious about increasing diversity they absolutely MUST reduce the cost of tuition.

Amy Beth so true! MCAT itself favors those with a higher SES. Those with lower SES cannot afford the exams let alone the cost of med school

Thank you for your talk! I really appreciated the honesty! Also a topic that would be awesome to go over for a future session would be mental health/ how to stay happy as a physician since it's such a taxing yet rewarding job and especially in EM there is a high burn out rate.
