The exhausts on the XV125 and 250 are not fake, the fake part is the shiny down pipe on the right side of the bike.. the actual down pipe runs down under the bike to the collector box and joins the front pipe, the output is a true 2/2

Right on. I've owned two Virgo's in my time and both have been great machines - never had any problems with them. Yamaha are great machines. Cheers

I just bought one that has a shorting problem, and has alot of rust (been sitting outside for 2 summers and winters, but i got it started so works! Bit of white smoke came out of pipes and like 11 backfires) trying to learn to build bikes with it, any suggestions?

I just acquired 2 250 Viragos that I will be shipping to the Philippines and sorry to say that I am not shipping my 1200 Sportster. On Cebu island it is rare if you can travel more than 60 km per hour so the Sportser would be a waste. I did ship a 920 xv Virago fro Canada to Australia a few years ago and I can see you have great roads there for a big bike.

Hi mate, your videos are great. Just found the channel. I'm actually looking at getting my motorbike l's and was just wondering what your thoughts are with virago vs magna vs intruder vs hyosung gv250, all 250s as a first bike. And how did you put the bike in your name without reg and rwc, or did you just wait for after you were done.

Mate. I’m in the process of about to kick off stripping and redoing a 250 myself. In this video you said you downloaded a workshop manual. Who did you get it through. I’ve been stung in the past with crappy ones. Great vids and thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if the 250 flywheel and cylinders fit into a 125 case?

Japanese motorcycle engine cover phillip screws (like those on the oil filter cover) should be removed with an impact driver. It looks like a super fat heavy metal screwdriver that you smack with a hammer. Normal screw drivers will often slip and smear the metal on the screw head. It is a $20 (US) tool that should be in every motorcyclist's kit. I just got a 2007 Virago 250 for my wife on Craigslist for $250, and had it running within 40 minutes of getting it home. Classic "dead" Japanese bike problem - carburetor jets plugged with old stale gas residue due to long term storing with the carb full of fuel. 4 (lousy soft metal Phillip's head) screws pull the float bowl, 5 minutes with the jets in a jewelry cleaner (another tool all motorcyclists should have, it is a cheap tiny ultrasonic cleaner, better and safer than harsh carb cleaner chems) re-assembly and suddenly the "dead" bike is running fine. So far it looks like a really decent little bike. Thanks for putting up the videos!

Scrub Super-fine Steel Wool on the the rusty chrome bits with soapy water. It will definitely increase the selling value.

hi,... just watched your video, thanks for doing that!... my 2000 virago 250 mixture adjust screw was adjusted all the way in (lean)... with no change in idle or running status, any ideas why this is happening? thanks,... It seems to be running fine, just smells like its running rich...

Hi, i have same xv250, i very confused that 1 of my piston block not working well, when i start it look like ok, so, after running the engine around 15 to 20 minute, front block doesn't working, just block no 2 only working, so,when i opened spark plug, it look like wet with petrol, may know what a problem?..or tunning carburetor not equal air and fuel..i not understand how to tunning it, different with motorcycle below 150cc..i already changed new ring block 1 and 2, i check current still ok,CDI also new, starter coil new...may i get the info what should i do..friend

That's sure fire signs you've got a valve ready to drop. I believe they stop seating properly which drops the compression slightly to one cylinder, making the bike run rough especially in the cold. That will mean your valves will need their clearance adjusted and possibly a reseating which means head work. At that stage you're staring a critical failure right in the face. I'd enquire about a replacement engine asap and I'd be looking into the cost to have the valve reseated. If the valve hasn't dropped yet you won't be looking to replace heads or anything particularly hard to come by, but will more than likely need the valves to be removed and replaced. Mine did the same thing to me. It's a rare factory flaw that some of them came out with exhaust valve issues. They wet the plugs because the fuel doesn't burn efficiently.

Hi Mark, those black sparkplugs means that engine is running to rich. It needs carb tuning I think.

On the right side of the bike, the cover that has Yamaha sticker on it. You have to pull on the back of the cover pretty hard then slide the cover toward toward the front of the bike. Took me awhile to figure it out.

The exhaust manifold of the rear cylinder is fake because it couldn’t fit so they rerouted it from the back
