Fixing Clutch Issues - Virago 250/V-Star 250 (XV250)

Today I'm fixing a clutch issue on my Virago 250 (xv250).
The problem was that when I bought the project bike, it didn't go into first gear. So I had to dig deeper and find out the cause. So I opened the engine and had a closer look. It was the shit lever. The teeth were not lined up correctly with its counter part on the opposite side. It's a simple fix if this happens to you.
My theory on cause is that someone opened the engine in the past to do some work and moved the shift lever outward and teeth went out of place. They didn't notice and put everything back together and then the clutch didn't work again and they decided to sell the bike thinking they ruined the clutch. -Stealth

So you seem to be the virago 250 guy I could really use your help! I have one that won’t get power in gear I tried checking what you show in this video and it’s all lined up I can feel the bike shift, but now power! It will just rev through the gears and not go. Any suggestions?
Great video! Always wondered how that worked. I also have a virago 250, mine can shift to first gear, but, sometimes the shifting lever just does not react and falls, or sometimes it just smashes it in a first gear with a noise. Could you please tell me what the probable problem would be? Thank you so much!

@@MotoGearSolid Ok actually, it's the other way around. I'm having trouble getting it into neutral. someone tells me that i have to master it but for past month ive been trying then got me thinking it's some kind of mechanical issue going on in it.
