    Ha ha, that Willis Alan record, thought got a brief second Andy Samberg had timetraveled back in time to record and album. Some good cherished neighbourhoods there, reminding me of living in Copenhagen a couple of years back in the day. Congrats on an exiting haul!

    Absolutely with you regarding buying in the real world v online buying. Sadly as we know we're unlikely to ever find many of the lps we'd love to own in the real world, even cheapies. You only need to see discogs sales to conclude that many US releases are only available in the US or Europe but rarely the UK. And when they are for sale in the UK they're the most expensive copies! You flicked past one of my fave US pop psych lps in the 1st box...Summerhill (white sleeve with band on hillside). Makes me want to go to Copenhagen though...looks ace!

    Hard not to notice the Mighty Blimp debut on display at Goldmine Records 10:23. Congrats on the Rasputin's Stash John. Thirteen years later is better than never. They had some great funk/soul for sale. I was thinking of you when I found most of the soul/R&B/Funk albums that I showed at the end of my recent video. You would have went crazy at Goodwill. Someone donated a lot of them. Most were in great shape. The last five years have been more miss than hits. I must have timed it just right a few weeks ago. Always the best sharing some time with you~ Rob/Boston

    @@6inchpianist When I was nine years old, my parents gave me my first record player - a transportable green Gerrard. And the local seller gave me a single with Chubby Checker (Limbo Rock/Popeye (The Hitchhiker). I still have the single and play it now and then. And it was on the Karusell label. By the Way the label later on was sold to some gemans, who spelled the name with an extra s, Karussell..On Discogs you can see alle their titles. Of course. Have a nice day - I like the way you promote reggae, soul and so on, al lot of it new to me. Thumbs up. By the way - i'm danish living i Aarhus.

    Hi John - haven't heard of the unreleased Rasputin's Stash put out by AOTN. Found both their albums in that old DJ collection some years ago, the second was still sealed if memory serves, he had crates worth of stuff he'd bought in discount bins back in the day and never got round to playing I suppose. Still haven't got the Pharaohs oddly enough but I do have the In The Basement collection which followed that. Don't see the New Birth all that often here either and not too many seem to show them online, I found a couple of their albums again in that same collection but don't think I've spotted any since. Got the Sugarhill Gang, I love that very early era of hiphop, twee and all. Serious 70's sweater vests on that Auger cover lol. Copenhagen looks like a lovely city, cheers!

    Blimey, Doug. You did well out of that DJ collection! I wish a collection like that would make its way in my direction 😀. The Brian Auger album cover is a sight to behold. I wish more artists would embrace the knitwear look for their album artwork. I’ve got a stack of reggae to show at some point. It’s stuff I’ve picked up during the past 12 months and have been spinning a lot. Will be interested to hear what you think. Gonna have to pick up the pace with making videos. Cheers!

    Looks like a nice trip John and great you got to do some digging. I got a copy of Gold Mother last year and really enjoyed it, despite not being a huge fan. Mine doesn't have Sit Down on it and I prefer that, as that song's a bit overplayed for me. Always nice to get some Auger, shocking cover though...nothing for me this morning at the booty...cheers Dale

    Cheers Dale. Gold Mother has taken me back to my youth. It’s so evocative of 1990. Great record. It’s been slim pickings for me at the car boot for a few weeks. It only takes that one good seller to make it all worthwhile though.

    I found an og of Pharoahs the other day, very scratched, but cost me about 33 cents. Which is 34 cents more than a Black Sabbath is worth. Never occured to me to dig in Denmark, assumption everything there is ''silly money''. James did one of the best pop songs I've ever heard- ''getting away with it''. Which probably sums up your life!!

    Ironically I had Rasputins Stash in my hands last year in my local shop, they had $25 Cdn on it but I didn’t know what it was too and the shop is notorious for charging $5-10 more for albums so I put it back thinking I would grab it later at a discount but went back and it was gone… but next time for sure

    Boom! You hit a Billy Joe Shaver motherlode in that first place. I glimpsed a copy of his Old Five and Dimers Like Me as you flicked through that box. Now that's a rare record. I wonder what the asking price was? Denmark is one of those European countries where I see lots of difficult to find country rock available from sellers on Discogs. Maybe Louise and I need to swing over to Copenhagen in the not too distant future.

  • @6inchpianist

    @6inchpianist

    Жыл бұрын

    Howdy. The prices in Denmark were very hit and miss. Did you see the country record in the footage that you and Ben were talking about in our pub video (Willard somebody?)? Well, that was a crazy price - over £100, I think. I was really picky about what I brought back. It helped that one shop had 50% off everything. If I hadn’t have managed to get a discount on most of the records I bought, I’d have had to leave them behind.

    @@6inchpianist That Willis Alan Ramsey Album is a weird one. Somehow it's got itself a load of hipster cred, although, for me, it's no better than a host of similar 70s albums by country folk singer-songwriters. £100 is rather steep. It's easily a £50 record, but no one should be buying it for anywhere near £100.
