Some great finds, especially the Procol Harem. Agree with you on waiting to find records in the wild as opposed to buying on line. The shipping costs to send things to us here in Canada is criminal. Much more satisfying stumbling into things in a brick and mortar. Cheers.

Hi Chris, There was a time, about 20 years ago, back when I collected mostly Heavy Metal, when Procol Harum albums were everywhere. I almost never see them now. Apostrophe is my favorite Zappa album. I got it when I was very young, about 14 I think, and it completely confused me at the time. A brilliant album but very strange. Great stuff, Cheers

I do remember that as I scarfed up loads of Procol LPs around that time. However even back then the debut shown here by Chris was the one that I NEVER saw hide nor hair of. The record buying public must have avoided it because it did not contain 'A Whiter Shade of Pale'

I was a big soundtrack collector for many years. I don’t tend to buy so many these days, but I do always look through them. Some great finds there especially the Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

@@thesuffolkrecordcollector680 if you’re looking to move that Procol Harum MOV on (or any others tbh) I’m looking for a nice playing copy without spending too much. I’ve got some duplicates - Soundtracks and classic albums if you’re interested in some trades give me a shout.

Hello Strawberry Alarmclock had a hit song titled Incense and peppermints. I remember it on the radio back in the 1960s. I have a cd of the soundtrack to the Austin Powers movie, and the song features on it.

I also way prefer to find records in the stores, and I haven't bought anything online for years. I found it was less exciting to buy online but also seemed like it had potential to get addictive! That Caravan record is fantastic. I found an original US copy (on the London label). I'd like to find a copy of their first one too.

Regarding the Elton John album, all the DJM albums were pressed and distributed by Pye records who used the light weight purple/burgundy vinyl. I'm not sure if any other company used that particular type of Vinyl. I seem to remember both Bradleys Records and Spark used the Pye Translucent vinyl

@@thesuffolkrecordcollector680 He put it impolitely but he is correct. It is the practice of gripping the edge to remove from sleeve which eventually results in the first track of each side becoming noisy.

I still have my Jar of flies/sap but the pressing was always a bit weird. The timing or the whirring is out I'd like it if the re-did that one.

Bargain for the Procol Harum LP! And Quadrophenia as well! I know what you mean about 21st century repressings as opposed to back in the day ones, a lot of the 180g ones now are all weight and no trousers to me and often sound too quiet with no dynamics in them at all, to the point that the free cd that comes with them sounds much louder and has more oomph because it’s remastered better than the new vinyl! Sade is a good example of this and i’m glad you pointed that out! Keep up the good work!!!!
