I used to deliver these GMC Motorhomes all over the country back in the 70's. I loved these things It was like getting paid to be on vacation. I have not to this day driven a motorhome of this class that handled so well and rode so nice. I'm jealous of anyone who is lucky enough to have one.I would pick them up at the factory in Pontiac Mich, and have delivered as far south as Miami, and west to Texas, and in between. You have done a fabulous job on this piece of Art....enjoy.
This man did an excellent job renovating this thing. Massive effort I can see

Beautiful, just beautiful, seriously beautiful.
It's amazing that no one has copied the GMC concept for RV's. Maybe I'm just stuck in the seventies, but those things always look contemporary even though they are forty years old.

They may be the best RVs ever built. They would have been built much longer if the price of gas had not risen so sharply and the Mid East oil embargo had not occurred. So ahead of their time.
Gosh that is beautiful and totally livable. Sleek outside and cozy and almost elegant inside.
I would have that GMC over any new RV today. Amazing rv.

Doug Weatherup the new ones are so poorly built. We bought two new ones last year for work. They both had to be put in the shop after each use. Water leaks, malfunction, and the things were just falling apart. I’d never buy a another

I was just 17 years of age, working as a night cleaner at a restaurant in Simsbury, Ct when the owners drove up with one of these! My jaw dropped! It looked massive and so unique and "modern". How fortunate you are to be able to own one today.
this guy deserves an award for his hard work and innovation. theres only a handfull of these gmc classics left so its always nice to see people update amd preserve theirs.
The guy sounds like a really decent Man just trying to live a good life with his family, God bless him and his family
this is probably my FAVORITE GMC RV conversion project. i would so LOVE to own a rig like this. :)
I m from Germany and I love this car so much. What a futuristic design for the seventies. Absolute timeless!
My employer converted one of these rigs to a full scale TV production truck in 78 that was still in use until about ten years ago. It was heavy and lumbered down the road, but was a smooth ride. This owner is in incredible craftsman to have envisioned the mods and then been able to produce them in such incredible quality. Those rigs were quite visionary for their time. Kind-of a shame they didn't produce them for a longer period of time. Nice job with the tour video. I really enjoyed the step back in time.

These RVs should be revised with all the modern tech and comforts. 40 years old and keep on ticking. Nothing on the road can match them except Airstream.
BEAUTIFUL !! My uncle had one and I loved it, but he warned me about one drawback of the front wheel drive that he hadn’t predicted. One morning he was ready to roll out but all he did was spin tires. He had no choice the night before but to park on grass. The combination of six tires very slightly sinking into the turf, and dew on the grass in the morning, and he was stuck. A couple of shovels full of gravel solved it but he was shaking his head and laughing, as were his camp neighbors.
Very nice RV. Way ahead of it's time. A GM classic. Tastefully upgraded.

That ceiling is what we used for our backsplash in our kitchen. It’s beautiful but a “dandy” to cut. Lol…looks great on that ceiling.
There's nothing wrong with living in a van. If you're comfortable, you have all the amenities you need to live comfortably, to survive wherever you travel. 🙂
This Motorhome was way ahead of its time in the mid 70’s. And very expensive for the day. An average 3 bedroom house was $50000. And these were real close to that price tag.
Back about 2001 when we were looking for our 1st RV, I looked at one of these in good shape, and had a chance to buy it at a very reasonable price. Wish I had it now. Great work.
These old 74-78 GMC models were the coolest
Dollar for dollar those old GM RV's are worth their weight in gold, built on a heavy truck platform=PERFECT!!!
Great set up! I lived on a GMC motorhome during the summer of ‘76, driving it from venue to venue for a Virginia US Senatorial campaign. It was amazing on the highway and handled exceptionally well with its low center of gravity. I’m surprised the design hasn’t been duplicated today.
I love the GMC Motorhome. It's more attractive than anything being offered today.
Who would do a Van build when you could have THIS? SO MUCH ROOM. UNBELIEVABLE. Never heard or seen these b4. Just love it. That no co has tried to remake or make a similar is their loss
Absolutely gorgeous! I remember the t.v. commercials for these. Yes commercials, not ads lol, I'm old. Love what they've done with it.
GMC did fantastic work on these originally, and earned serious loyalty from those that realized this timeless traveler

Usually I can't stand to see someone butcher up an RV and remove the factory furniture or paint walls which really always looks like trash but this guy did the absolute BEST job on his renovation that I have seen yet! Love the TV set up how it looks all built in..Everything looks built in and the way it should look..Excellent job! He actually raised the resale value of this coach soo much!! This is one of the few coaches that it does raise the resale value by doing renovations...had this been a 1987 Southwind with painted walls and Wal-Mart curtains, Target fur rugs it would look like trailer trash!! These GMC coaches only go up in value and It's great to see a high end job done to one!

@Charles Toles I hate shabby chic too..I was talking to a buddy at Lazy Days, a large Tampa area dealer, and he said they end up having to run those altered trades through the auction as they just can't sell them..nobody wants a painted or altered RV..the worst is the ones who remove the factory sofa and put two recliners! They won't give them much at all on trade if they have painted or removed factory furniture or built ins..even if it was a 3 year old coach once you paint the walls, forget it..any resale is gone..I have bought and sold for years and I won't even look at one if it's been altered, painted or had factory furniture removed..I can't resell them easy enough or even get much out of them..It's like this..would you take a 3 year old Mercedes and paint the dash? No! A RV is more like a car than a house when it comes to improvements..You can't tell that to the people on the RV forums..they love that Shabby shit I mean Chic..Just information from a dealer/flipper/re-seller's standpoint!!

@Charles Toles I sold my 1983 Wanderlodge 35FC SB back in 2007..Bought in 2006..paid $20K, invested $10K sold for $32K..it was a HUGE money pit but such a cool coach! I miss it..not the upkeep...or slow speed!! Max speed pedal to the floor on the 3208 CAT turbo diesel was 65mph!! (Front diesel) I am familiar with HMC..(Hawkins)..they did make a high quality coach..solid wood cabinets etc...everything that went into a HMC was the best of it's time..the A/C units..Penguin low profile, the best at the time..Hard to find a HMC now days..gas or diesel...
Since I am a truck driver I really appreciate what he has done.
Full of surprises. The use of the space behind the TV shows some real ingenuity.
First time ever seeing a wood-burning stove in an RV, awesome!

Super nice RV..........really like the accommodations for the kitty.
The GMC motor home was designed by my stepfather Paul H. Deesen Sr. ~ GM Tech, Warren, Mich. He was with GM from the 50s until retirement, but went on to designing private planes also. He drew the 67 Camaro on our formica dining room table, he designed the 70 SS Chevelle, both cars we had as "family" cars in spite of there being 7 kids. 😂 Too many details to list here are among his designs. In my biased opinion GM always had the most beautiful designs. What a beautiful reno here!

Probably the best set-up I can imagine. Now i have to find one..what a nice man...really great to see folks like you on the road.
Seriously, what is not to like here? There's actually people who gave this video thumbs down? I have been involved in the GMC MoHo community (Minnesota locally as well as GMCMI which is the GMC Int'l club) for 10+ years, and I've seen what I believe to be just about every possible configuration and modification done on these fine machines, but this one is particularly impressive - both in concept and execution. I enjoyed this very much! Thanks, and best of wishes to Brian! Thank you!
Love this RV Brian...one of my favorites....maybe its because back in the 70's my Dad was ready to buy one of these but fell ill and passed away a few months later so we never could do it. I always wanted to finish his dream but never had the time or money at the same time (married and kids) throughout the years....THANK YOU for showing this wonderful project, makes me still dream....

This was quite possibly the best RV ever built.
I think these are some of the coolest looking RV’s ever. I would be thrilled to own one.
I really love these rigs. I have researched them for about 5 years now and fully intend to buy one. I have always told my best buddy that when I get one I will need a wood stove as I live in Canada. This by far is the most beautiful renovation Ive seen. The owners of this outstanding bus are living my dream. Its so gorgeous! What an incredible job.
That is the prettiest ride I have seen.
Coolest motorhome ever made
I have an older, class A, 30' motorhome with a 454 gas engine. It wont get out of it's own way, while getting no more than 6.5 mpg. Seriously it's a road hazard. I simply must pull over every 5 minutes to let folks pass (including a fully-loaded cement mixer.) Think about this next time you start feeling nostalgic.
My husband loves this type of RV. He did a nice job on this make over. We always say. See you down the road. 💜💜💋💋🎈🎈🎸🎸
Very cool GMC travel vehicle! Early retirement sounds so inviting. Seems like RV living, boondocking, and life on the road is gaining in popularity. Amazing how many KZread channels are out there on this way of life. Of course, this is one of the best!
Still beautiful after all these decades!!!

Beautifully done. And you have head room WOW
I just saw this rig on Kevin's channel as he was pulling into this area. Beautiful rig, love when people have skills for the remods 👍🌞🌞🌞🌞
Best ever made! (by a corporation) And improved on by a human! Stylin'....
My rich Uncle had one of those back in the day. It looked like a spaceship compared to the old tin boxes everyone else made. Loved that thing. We had a 65 Chevy truck with a topper and a 14 foot camper trailer. My Dad let me bring my motorcycle with and only picked camps where I could ride = awesome.
Definitely got to say dude from Wisconsin is a true craftsman. Well done.
This ia a beautiful, well thought out environment & thanks for the tour.
Absolutely beautiful! Timeless classic. My favorite "truck" when I was a kid. I had the Hess Toy version in the 70s back when Hess gas stations had the coolest toys. That blue color is perfect!
My husband likes the GMC RV ! He said “ you know the one in the movie Stripes ! “ with Bill Murray 😂👍
Thanks for that beautiful video wow this camper is beautiful GMC motor home Make America 🇺🇸 Great Again
Thanks Brian! Excellent interview and wicked cool RV!
Nice clean vintage RV. He did a great job on the upgrades. Thanks for sharing Brian
Beautiful looking GMC Motorhome. That, to me, is the perfect motorhome. At 26' in length, it's small enough that anyone with a standard driver's license could drive it without problems, and yet it's large enough that two people could easily live in it while traveling the country.
That is one of the finest remodels I have seen of a GMC motorhome. I better get busy on mine...which is still in the possession of my neighbor. I guess its time to buy!
What a wonderful remodel, Beautiful! Thanks for the tour!
WOW! This guy did such a fantastic job on reno, he's really good. Good job on the interview also Brian
BEAUTIFUL RIG BROTHER! LOVE AND GOD BLESS AMERICA & ALL YOUR ADVENTURE'S! UNCLE JEFF!
Those GMC Motor coaches are very collectibe now. I moved to LA 26 years ago. To beat the high cost of housing I bought my 1st motorhome a 1976 Chevrolet Sierra 28 ft. I moved into a trailer park and lived in it for 6 years. I then bought a Gulf Stream Hi Rise 36ft and have been living in it now for 20+ years. I've also remodeled the coach to better suit my needs. I removed all of the carpet and put in hardwood and ceramic tile floors. Repainted and rearranged the interior. After seeing this I now see a new wood burning stove in my near future. I really like the one he installed and now want one for myself. The best part is I'm lease locked in at $565. per month this includes lot rent , water, gardener, trash and electricity. I still use propane on removable tanks for my hot water, stove and furnace that I very seldom use. I don't have to drive the motor coach to go get propane I have a 30 gallon tank that will last 3-4 months between filling again. I have no intention of ever living in a house, townhouse, condo or apartment ever again! I used to tell my boss, don't piss me off! I'll start up my house and drive away! He said only if he could put his Harley on a trailer and go with me! I have a Honda Gold Wing for that purpose. If you like "stuff" this wouldn't be a good lifestyle for you. Limited space will curb your shopping habits. I spend my money on having a really nice car in exchange for paying high rent. It's a trade off I will always choose. Planning on buying a new coach with the next 5 years. I'd like to see more parks being built for full time RV'ers. They are becoming scarce now to find.
Seriously cool RV! Very tasteful, retro in many details and well thought out!
Love this RV, esp the tiny wood stove. If I had this rig, I may want to return home again! Thanks fellas for this amazing show and tell ;o)
Talented guy and to someone who works out himself, it looks like Pat does also. I remember these campers from the day. It turns out that this camper is indeed timeless.
An RV is an extension of one's personality and Pat is quite an organised guy who has a great mix of form and function. Usually people either prefer go with a functional design and ruin the looks or the other way. This guy and his rig are truly rare! Should be a veteran!
