Vintage Quilt Repurposing Challenge 1 of 3 - Cutting

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

It's my goal whenever I'm repurposing a quilt to use as much as possible. This quilt was a good candidate for such a challenge--the damage was all torn seams, an easy enough (although time consuming because there were so many) fix. So, how many things can I make from this vintage quilt?
Part I: all the cutting and measuring--definitely the longest part of the process!

I have a double wedding ring quilt that my grandmother made for my parents wedding in 1951. The quilt is VERY tattered and even though I've repaired her twice, I've decided to let her go and do something else with her to spread her love. The repairing of this quilt sparked a passion in me to begin quilting. I now have a regular Babylock machine, a 5' Babylock Coronet (just put a 2 foot extension on her) and last but not least I have a 1950 Singer 15-91 machine that I only paid $49. She's been renovated and works great. Thanks for these ideas.

I love hearing about your sewing machine collection! I have quite a few, too, and they each serve a different purpose! I bet you'll be able to do alot with your grandmother's quilt.

I really like how you are cutting hearts out of the smallest pieces - very little left over, terrific.

a popover is my version of a sweatshirt--it has an oversized fit with drop shoulders, and a cotton ribbed neckband (like a sweatshirt).
