We are hoping back into some old school classic here at Auditography. The Audi S2 Coupe from 1991-1995, is a gorgeous coupe with the magical 5 cylinder engine. I’m a big fan of these lines myself. Are you? Even though the Audi 80 was a bit boxy, it somehow always looked cool. Here we jump into a Laser red example, tuned to around 500 horses by the guys at LCE Performance and their insane Stage 4. These iconic turbo spools is something to enjoy forever.

The Coupe Quattro, as it was known here in the States, was one of my favorite cars when I was in high school, and it remains one of my all-time favorite Audis... Even though we never received any of the turbocharged variants here in America. It'd be awesome to import an S2, now that they're over 25 years old and legal for importation. My only concern, though, is the age of the platform. All of those parts are essentially three decades old at this point, and the spare parts supply is seriously dwindling. Some parts simply aren't available any longer... And they're usually smaller and/or peripheral components, which can be truly annoying and frustrating. Turbos and pistons and exhaust manifolds can be sourced, sure, but the countless little plastic components, small valves, switches, etc., can sometimes be very hard to replace. Or, as in the case of driveline or suspension parts, they can simply be painfully expensive to replace, in addition to the long times involved in sourcing and shipping them, often from overseas.

As with any old car, unless we're talking main stream muscle cars state side of course where there's tons of aftermarket companies and parts to go around, I just chalk it up to that's just the barrier of entry/cost of ownership you willingly take on when going on a platform that old. I think its well worth. Plus, unless you absolutely need factory original or 3rd party assembly line, I'd wager that there's plenty of the plastic parts that could be 3D printed to made as good, if not better than the original. Could even be a side hustle for someone with the knowhow and time/energy to take that on.

The enginesound and exhaustnote change significally after 5000 rpm. Such a shame you shift that early. I know it can rev more 😅 You didn’t even touch the 500hp yet 😢
