Great info!! My parents had very little money during the 70's. So I would just stare at all the wonderful toy shelves at my local SS Kresge's....dreaming that maybe at Christmas..... Can't wait for part 2!

I loved this video, as it stirred up a lot of fantastic childhood memories. I absolutely love the original Mego toyline and I owned quite a few in my childhood collection, but I never knew that the playsets existed, or how extensive the toyline actually was, until years later.

Absolutely loved watching this, thank you! The Star Trek stuff was brilliant to listen to in itself, but the stand-out bit for me was hearing about the Star Trek Phaser Battle artwork. When I saw Mr. Spock looking at that kid's missing face, it reminded me of TOS episode "Charlie X" where he erases someone's face and also gave me inspiration for a line: "Spock to Kirk - Charlie Evans is back again, he's erased this kid's face". Superb nostalgia, loving it all, looking forward to the second part.

Just so you know, Conan was at that time (and is again today) published by Marvel, who had acquired the license from CPI. The character was in Marvel continuity, to the point that in the Marvel Age comic which catalogued the history of the Marvel Universe, the Hyborian Age in which Conan lived was included as canon. So, yes, technically Conan was Marvel. Thanks for a great video, it's a blast seeing all these friendly fellas again.

We used to get loads of Mego figures in the UK, although nowhere near all of them. We were particularly starved of playsets. I had loads of Superheroes and Planet of the Apes figures (I've stilll got a carded Palitoy General Urko!) I also had Star Trek figures, the Klingon and Spock were childhood favourites, I also picked up a Neptunian and a Gatekeeper from a local newsagents, I passed on the Charon, I thought it was boring! I don't know what happened to them but I wish I'd kept them... and bought the Charon! I also had the Batmobile and the Captain Americar, I loved the pop out shield. A personal favourite were the Mad Monsters, I've still got all my old ones except the Vampire which, rather fittingly, the dog got hold of and chewed to death! Happy times... 😂👍👍

The only megos I remember seeing in stores back in the 70s were the superheroes and later happy days. I would have loved the robin hood or knights as a kid but honestly don't remember seeing them. The only reason I had Tarzan is my dad got for me and I loved it but didn't see him either. Lots of superheroes and also lots of the pocket heroes. Oh yeah micronauts had plenty of them.

Same here. I didn't get to shop in toy stores very much until KB opened in our little mall in the late 70s. Mostly we shopped Kmart and Ames and Grants and Hills and other discount chains. With limited display room they mostly only stocked the big sellers.

I had those bulky phasers and walkie talkies. I thought they were pretty awesome at the time but the walkie talkies did not have a very good range. If I had it my way those "communicators" would've had the same range as the talkies in Hawkins on Stranger Things. Those seem to have unlimited range!

I'm guessing as a kid I never saw the Oz toy or the Waltons because they were in "girls" toy aisle. If funny I work at a Toys R Us years back stocking the toys. That is where I figured out that Barbie can't hold a job. She does it all everything from Astronaut to Race car driver. HA!

The weird thing about the Wizard of Oz figures. A lot of my friends all had the Tin Man. There was something about him very appealing to boys. I do remember the Oz figures pegged along with the Superheroes. I don’t remember ever seeing the Walton’s in stores. Although my female cousins had them. (That truck was the best! I don’t know why but for some reason it felt less cheesy than All of the Superhero vehicles.)

The Cheron character caught my eye. Been studying the old Prisoner series from the 60s. In the final episode called FALLOUT we see these black/white people sitting as the judges over the Prison. And the word "cheron" is very similar to "chiron". I'm guessing they're the same thing. And Chiron/Cheron was a centaur/teacher of some notable people throughout the ages, including: Aristaeus, Ajax, Achilles, Jason, Perseus, sometimes Heracles, and even Dionysus. And there is an amazing channel on youtube called Chiron Last...which attempts to explain what the hell is going on in this uber weird world we live in. Anyhow, fun stuff. Great work you're doing...
