I would have loved to operate the 977!!! I got the chance to drive one when I was 12 years old. Now I'm 70 years old. You never forget!! Thank you for sharing this video with us.

This is so cool . I remember years ago talking to Andrew in the comments before he got big And the best part is he never let anything go to his head and always stayed the same! That dozer is a beast and that loader is massive too

It's really cool to get the Andrew Camarata feeling on another channel than his ! Watching from Paris, France, and just subd to your channel. I like the vibe of it very much. Also, it's awesome to see all the transformations that Andrew's doing to his mountain !!!

That's pretty cool, hanging out and working with Andrew.

First machine I ever learned to operate was a traxcavator 977. My dad would take me to work with him when I was a kid. When I was able to reach the foot controls my dad would take lunch I was around 12 he would sit on the trailer at first have me moving piles of dirt. Then tell me ok move it back. Then light grading and digging

When i bought my track loader i had to load it on the steel deck trailer myself and didnt realize it was on a slight grade, i was nervous as hell because i had about 30min experience of using it before i bought it. Lets just say i learned a few new words when it started over the pivot point on the trailer and started sliding off at the same time. I saved it by throttling wide open and tapped the left brake bringing the right side around while it went forward but then was nearly sideways on the trailer when it sat fully back down then i had to take a second to get the ole ticker back going again lol. Since then its been a blast and the 4n1 bucket makes it so much more versatile than a gp bucket. Man its some massive rocks around there aint it, now Andrew will be known for literally moving mountains lol

Nice! I'm glad I learned on level ground - I would want a solid day on level ground before I go near any ledges with any dozer or track loader. Its a different game steering with brake and having a set go instead of using a pedal. I found myself trying to hit the 'brakes' and turning left a couple times lol.

@@CerebralAilment yea no doubt, i wouldnt want to have to wrap my head around the brake/steer aspect anywhere near an edge lol, i got well adapted clearing an acre of trees and pushing a road in to the back of my property (1/4 mile) but when i dont use it for a while i will catch myself stabbing the right brake to stop in a hurry instead of the decel pedal too. Enjoy the vids man, has to be a blast helping Andrew cant wait to see his video too

Have you guys tried a newer generation? Hydrostatic transmission makes it so smooth it gets much easier to inch your way.

Yeah it really does move F800 dump truck sized loads of materiel every trip. It was a joy to run. It was pretty satisfying getting a full scoop. For being as old as it is, its actually in pretty nice shape.

So Andrew got a 988?? Nice lol

I have 52 years old and since i was young boy i still have the dream to learn driving dozers and truck loaders 🚜🙄

Welcome! Its just the basic run down of controls, there is more to be said with technique on moving earth - but that's better off for someone like a seasoned pro such as Andrew to go over.

That 988 can move some material for sure. Looks like Andrew could benefit from a conveyer system or even a rock truck... He is still getting that mountain dug out pretty fast I think.

It all starts somewhere and with someone saying get on and run it! After a few days your saying I can do this and then you either see someone who can really run one or you get older and much wiser.... and laugh at yourself for thinking this is easy. I wrenched on stuff like that for around thirty or more years as my life has many turns in its road. You will get there but pay attention all the time and leave the radio off.

I never drove a track loader or dozer, looks a bit tricky. And a friend once told me for leveling with a dozer you need some talent. He even called it Butt-O-Meter, to get a even surface. With the wheel loader, I bet I'd feel fine driving one. It seems similar to the big forklifts I drove, pedals and switches are nearly the same, just the steering is a little different.

Why are these old track loaders set up with the curl function forward?? I noticed that when Andrew was running the old green one. That seems so backwards to me. I've ran many loaders with 2 sticks and it seems you would want to lift and curl at the same time to dig which would be hard with one hand. Maybe it's more helpful loading in a truck but still seems backwards!

I totally agree with you. It is the way Cat machines are set up and they refuse to change. The only advantage to this set up is that when you are distributing material out of the bucket, you can raise and dump at the same time by pulling both levers back. However, when crowding a stockpile to load the bucket, you need to raise and curl simultaneously so it is not good for that. I think most operators crowd the pile while raising the boom with a flat bucket then curling the bucket back to get a load. They should just joy stick it already.

Hot tub is still there - he's going to make that ramp start closer to the hot tub IIRC - and build something on the spot he's clearing.

Avoid alot of turning while loading or $$$$$$ in rollers tracks and shoes. I had a 963 and burned two sets of undercarriage at $20k each

Are the pedals brake only, clutch+brake or a mix? Does it stall if you jam on the service brake in gear? are left and right tracks locked together until you disengage one with a steer pedal or are they all loose with a differential?

I believe the pedals are brakes which cause the clutches to disengage simultaneously - doesn't stall no.

On the 955 cat loader - is there anything wrong with running them at a very low speed - RPM level wise - and when running at higher RPMs - should one RPM down before changing from Forword to reverse and or Stop / brake before doing so - seems I get a lot of different answers - wonder what the operator manual says - anybody know ? ? ! -- I just bought one and I think the guy that owned it didn't know Facts about how to run it -

I'm not the guy to ask my only experience is running Andrews track loaders - but from what I understand, the decelerator pedal on the left (On dozers anyways) lowers RPM. I know when Andrew is running his he's not manually dropping the throttle by hand anyways.

It was ripping into the rock way better than the big loader was - I would spin tire where the track loader is able to bite better.

Haha - how did you know my butt was sore? Deff the 988 I didn't have the seat adjusted properly so I was bottoming out when I had a good load in the bucket. Being 330lbs fully dressed its not easy on the back side when your bouncing around a cab.
