Caterpillar Crawler Loader 955 / 977 / 983 all sizes, in Action!

This is some footage my grandpa took of me with his 955K crawler loader some time ago and some footage I took from a 977L and a 983 from the "Ebianum" Bagger Museum in Switzerland, in Action at Weiach Historik 2022.

    Thank you for sharing these beautiful machines. I was lucky enough when I was kid to operate 933, 955, and 977. My dad was the superintendent. I'm 70 now. Thank you again for sharing your video with 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    not a whole lot in common with a D8, a 983 is actually heavier than a D8 of the same vintage too

    Spent many thousands of hours on a 77L, those sweet old girls could dig and made beautiful noise doing it. Moved onto a 73 and they’re in a working class all of their own.

    I remember watching an operator with a 955h model tearing down houses when i was 11 years old. I loved the sound of the cat engine. Later on I saw many versions of the 977 and one 983. All beautiful machines. I miss the old cat sound that is missing in the newer models.

    I have a 955H, with a ripper and 4-way bucket. It has pedal steering and electric start. It doesn’t have ROPs of any type, but that was common in 1965. I used to ride on one as a kid so I got one as a big kid.

    You‘re right. The reason for this is: The 983 was only running on about 70%, because this was at an event where people could operate these machines themselves. And for safety reasons they didn‘t let people operate it with full throttle/full power, whereas on the 977 they could blast full throttle 😊

    Love these machines,but realistically speaking unless in a demo application these old bueties are brutally slow with low productivity and very expensive to maintain in today's standards, that's why you can pick them up for next to nothing these days ❤

    If you’re going to make a video at least get the weight specs right. 955=16tons 977=18tons

  • @Mani-io5re

    @Mani-io5re

    2 ай бұрын

    1. I‘m talking about metric tons, not short tons. 2. there are different weights depending on the production year. Besides: It makes no sense whatsoever that the 955 and 977 are only 2 tons apart (like you claim). Please recheck the specs.
