I think the physics engine is based on someone REALLY liking Samus Aran's Space Jump.

This game demonstrates a real scientific phenomenon known as "Isaac Newton's Day Off" named that due to what happens in it, what happens in Isaac Newton's Day Off is that Isaac Newton's ghost says "Fuck it" and lets the laws of physics work however they want to work, leading to strange happenings such a trucks and beams remotely fusing and spinning around like retards, or trucks pretending to be bats.

Michael Charlton You could consider it a bridge-building simulator. It reminds me of this thing we did in elementary school, where you make bridges with popsicle sticks and see who can make the most structurally sound one.

A truck lands on the opposite end of the bridge, the other truck falls into the river, it gets stuck on bridge debris, uses the debris to catapult the truck up into the air, then KICKFLIPS THE PREVIOUS TRUCK ACROSS THE MAP AND LANDS PERFECTLY TO WIN THE LEVEL, tell me that wasn’t the most cartoony sequence of events in history, tell me you didn’t chuckle in the slightest degree
