I completely agree. Even if you switched the entire rosters from WWE and AEW to each others shows, including Cena and Rock, AEW would still never win. WWE is still known throughout the world as WWF no matter how hard they try and get people to change their mindset. WWF is a household name. Hulk Hogan is a household name. Even though I will always be a wrestling fan, I can agree that the boom period of wrestling died by 2000. All any company can do these days is just do the best you can do with the people you have. Make it logical and don’t make the audience feel like they’re stupid.

It's because you couldn't draw a dime with the resources of billions of dollars and just like WWE, be forced to sell out. It's like you marks just don't live in reality of the real world. You are consumer cogs, not producing crank handles. Your best "vision" is to constantly rerun the same, failed models that got you here, then claim it's everyone elses fault. The reality is that society has moved on...they are not interested in wrestling. There are youtube channels, on slow days, that outdo the WWE and billions of dollars with eyes on their prize. It's like Russo stating AEW & Khan should be a WWE clone...just another failure...just like WWE. How can you possibly run the only liquor store in town, and get down to LESS than a one share on shows? Yet that is what every one of these "experts" have done, every time. So we already know WWE, Russo and Bischoff, along with Cornette...are wrong, as usual. Their best runs were less than 5 years, and never cracked the best Hulk Hogan '80's ceiling, with 3x the resources. TIMES CHANGE. TECH CHANGES. Time to grow up, rubes. But I do like it when Russo does Bidness Russo. Good times. It draws out the marks, so a person can study the faux-"fan base" out here, with them being so unattached from reality, they think a corporation caters to the whims of...you. A non-paying fish clanking pots together with a collander on their head harping about x or y as if it means anything. Chuckles are always had on my end. Especially by Russo. You are right about this. TK needs to step right back and put someone else in charge who knows the business. He is the typical rich kid playing with all his toys with people who he thinks are friends when they are not. I'm an AEW fan but it is losing momentum and that is worrying. I just don't understand why he doesn't appoint a GM to get himself into the background, he can still have a say in creative along with others which are involved anyway but he doesn't need to be everywhere.

When WWF/E was in its infancy in the 80s, few people even knew that Vince Mcmahon was the owner. He was an announcer and blended in with the company, he was certainly not an on-screen authority figure or above any other announcers, and nowhere near as important as the talent like Hogan and Macho Man. Vince didn't make himself a prominent figure until later and even that was pretty much on accident. The fans dictated when Vince Mcmahon became more of a character, and it's because he was the perfect dancing partner for Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Tony Khan being front and centre is only one of the problems with AEW. This is my humble and overlong opinion on why they’re struggling: - AEW advertise as the pro wrestling alternative to WWE because apparently sports entertainment are dirty words. They’re not. The product literally IS sports entertainment and WWE know that the entertainment i.e the stories and the characters are what sell the product. What makes it unique to an actual sport. AEW has done better recently on character building but the shows are still too match heavy. This isn’t a problem if your ambition is to be a niche pro wrestling heavy company with no desire to compete with WWE but Khan’s recent actions seem to show that that isn’t his intention. - speaking of matches, the indie match formula gets tiresome. Yeah 30 minute matches with 20 false finishes and a dozen high risk moves is impressive, but it doesn’t make me care. So many wrestlers today can do what Kenny Omega can do. Save the long epic matches for epic rivalry endings. - maybe the biggest problem with AEW for me is their lack of stars. A roster of either over the hill ex WWE guys or young kids who have no personality or star power. MJF is about the only homegrown star they have. And I’m sorry but appearances do matter when you’re a pro wrestler. When half of your young talent look like 150lb meth addicts it doesn’t scream tough guy. I can’t take Hook or Allin or Nick Wayne seriously when guys like Wardlow would swat them like flies. I’m not saying little guys don’t have their place or that they can’t win world titles but we cared when Bryan or Mysterious did it. They had personality, not to mention I can believe they can hold their own in a fight. Nick Wayne looks like he’d blow away in a light breeze! If these issues aren’t addressed soon it won’t matter how many billions Khan has, his company will fail.

Russo is right. Tony does not need to be part of the scrums or all the other things he does. It lowers his leadership status and most of the time, the talent looks like they're the boss and he's just a fan. He is a fan, but he needs to put his foot down and be an owner not a fan. Look at the All Out 2022 scrum with Tony Khan and CM Punk.

He clearly does not realize that the fact their company is not the WWE is in fact a blessing as they are free to differentiate their product from everyone else. He wants to be the WWE.. BIG MISTAKE and you brought that up. Most of the audience from the Attitude Era stopped watching wrestling and have not returned. He needs to reel those people back. Bucks and Omega running things was a bad idea, but Khan isn't much better. He needs an experienced booker and experienced writers, and like you say... he needs two major faces to promote. Baby face and Heel types. A few others like tags, and mid card champion types to promote. Khan should only be out there for major announcements, and should even pass that over to someone like JR.

Tony had the chance to put the foot on WWE’s throat right around when Vince came out as a womanizer, creep and payoffs were going down, Vince was being investigated and left. Attendance was down, morale was bad, talent wanted to come to AEW. He had Punk still, and had they just grew a set of balls to work together and make money for the company and counter and make something positive out of negative but Bucks and Omega were lil cunts. Had they just went out and done business, AEW could’ve made it interesting and competitive. But, sadly, the TKO thing came down, HHH started booking fantastic shows, brought back fired talent, Bray was doing his rabbit gimmick. That was the nail in the coffin for that chance. Now…after media rights deal is complete, I wouldn’t be surprised whatsoever, that HHH will put NXT on Wed nights and really try to put them out. Tony needs to just be an absentee owner and booker and hire people who can write good shows. Good pro wrestling Banger PPVs and nonsensical dream matches with no heat and story isn’t gonna do it.
