I hope this isn’t the way his career ends, cause Vince deserves to step off the court for the last time and have real closure. But if this was it for him I feel privileged and blessed to have seen this man play and be inspired by him when I wasn’t even a teenager yet and also as an almost 30-year-old. The day his career officially comes to an end will be a sad day for me, but once the initial sadness passes I’ll be able to appreciate these past 22 years and think about them with a huge smile on my face.

My all-time favorite player. The Raptor who got me hooked on the NBA as a young kid. My eyes were focused, my mind in awe each game I saw him play. I had all his game tapes on VCR when the Raptors played the television game NBA on NBC (best theme music ever), which wasn't much compared to the overstimulation of games today. My game was nothing like his, modeled more after Allen Iverson as I was a small, tough ball-handling guard with a nice layup package. No dunks or sweeping athleticism like VC, but I wore #15 all throughout high school. I got to see him play live once, in 2000 in a pre-season game for Team USA vs the Select. He put on a hell of a show. 10-10 from the field, a fast break windmill, and a windmill dunk off an alley oop from Ray Allen in the closing seconds. I still remember him throwing that one down and doing this limbo swag thing avoiding the basketball after. Probably the reason I am in love with basketball today. The way he played was an art form, something I could not relate to, but appreciated. Something I'd pay to see. These days I find myself marveling in that same way at Steph Curry. Best dunker of all time and the best shooter of all time huh? Now more of a grown up weekend warrior, I still go for the #15 jersey when I get the chance. Thanks for the videos Max.

I was gonna see him for the first time ever this April before covid happened. Thank you Vince for bringing the lights and cameras to Toronto. Thank you for showing Canadians that basketball was something to be excited about. Thank you for putting this city on your back when you were left out to dry. Thank you for giving us kids something to come up with. While kawhi's finish against the 6ers was spectacular I'll never forget it started with your shot against that same team 18 years earlier. Thank you for showing that Canada has what it takes to support big sports. There would be no Raptors if Air Canada never took flight. Thank you for 22 amazing years.

Maybe Vince’s peak wasn’t as high as Kobe or Jordan. However they both fizzled out quickly. Vince humbled himself, he was an amazing player for 4 decades. He tutored rookies he reinvented himself. Two things Kobe and MJ thought below them. Vince carter is the reason I played basketball, and it has been a huge blessing in my life. Creating lifelong friends, and most of all a ro-model.

He never replicated the high flyer he was in 00/01. But he was by far a better player his first three years as a Net. The knee injuries never impacted him the way you think it did. it wasn't no Grant Hill situation my man lol. If Vince had Kobe's focus paired with his own athleticism? He'd be in the Tim Duncan Kobe and Shaq tier of superstardom. But he never had that mindset, every interview he gave, you got the feeling he didn't want it. Vince never had an elite center until joining up with Prime Dwight Howard, although Vince was no longer an All-Star at that point.
