Adrian, Excellent review, this lens seems to be one of the best options out there for ultra-wide lenses regardless of the system you are using. Your sharpness review really proves how good it actually is, to be as sharp as it is, corner to corner at F1.8 is amazing. I am thinking that when it pops up on Amazon, I may have to get one for myself. Thanks again my friend and have a good week.

Hello, Very professional review on this one, what you have to say for using for video ?

Amazing. Rivaling even the 20mm 1.8 and 14-28 2.8 S. I have the 14-24 2.8 S but I do so much Astro that either this 16 or the 20 will be great. I am thinking the 16mm is better value.

How cool is that little window? It will be perfect for pitch black astro shooting. Great run down of the lens. That dome shot is my favourite - beautiful.

Can you please do a comparison between the Nikon z 20mm f1.8 and this Viltrox? This would be a great video too. I think many people are interested in this comparison. 👍

Hi Adrian, hope you are doing great. Before buying the 20mm 1.8g last year, I was considering Viltrox lenses. However, my gear shop recommended against Viltrox. I read also a couple of reviews in the net & most of them were not so positive about the sharpness. But it seems Viltrox has crossed the bridge. Would you recommend anything for f-mount full frame? Thanks for the short, but crisp analysis.

Thanks for watching. Viltrox have certainly come a long way. They keep getting better and better. In terms of F- mount you have a plethora of lenses to choose from. The F mount 20mm F1.8G lens is pretty good, so too the 14-24mm F2.8G lens.

Hello Adrian, I just saw this lens and really appreciated this review. I do have a question, however. Since this lens seems to be a newer release than the Viltrox 20 mm f2.8 for Nikon, I was wondering if you had to choose between the two (but could only have one), which would you choose? How Is the infinity setting on this lens, when I try to use the one on my Nikon 24mm f1.8 it’s never truly in infinity focus so I have to constantly adjust the focus with it. And that can be difficult in pitch dark situations. Thanks

I would love to see example photos (stars/night photos) especially demonstrating how much coma the lens produces.

Thank you for watching. Both lenses are amazing, you can't go wrong with either. That being said, if I already owned the Nikon 20mm F1.8S I would stick with it. If I was buying either for the first time, I would buy the Viltrox, purely for the money saving and the quality you get. Personally I like having a wider focal length because I can crop in if I have to.

@@adrianalfordphotography another great video. it's amazing how hard it is to chose a fast wide angle for the Z in 2024. this lens looks excellent, but i think i'd rather sacrifice a few degrees of width for the nikon quality and compatibility. i'll probably dig around the internet a bit more but think i'm sold on the 20mm.

The Viltrox 13mm F1.4 is an APSC lens. The Viltrox 16mm F1.8 is a full frame lens. Both are great lenses, but both are meant for different cameras

All my viltrox lenses are excellent and this is coming from someone that has top of the line nikon native lenses.

I use a D850, are there good Viltrox f mount lenses you can recommend?

Unfortunately Viltrox don't make F mount lenses. I have plenty of Nikon F mount lens reviews on my channel if you're interested.

I have 3 viltrox lenses, love them all. But this is the one i was expecting.

Viltrox seems to be the new Tamron : cheap, nice built quality, sharpness. For Astro it seems to be a good bargain.
