Overall the people of central Asia are very nice people and the hospitality among the Muslims is not comparable. American KZreadr Drew Binsky(Jewish) who traveled to all the countries in the world(197), sometimes repeatedly visited some countries. He said that people in Muslim countries are the most hospitable people. I met all the soviet people while I lived in St. Petersburg for a decade and one year in Zaparozhye(1974 arrived via Moscow from Bangladesh. Everywhere we were welcomed much better than other countries' students because our country just fought and got back independence with the help of the USSR and India. Not only in Central Asia but people from the Indian subcontinent were admired by the soviet people due to our culture, Movies, songs, etc. Unfortunately during the soviet times, communist authorities did not allow us to go somewhere without a visa(internal visa). If want to go to Moscow for a passport renewal or something to do, we have to get a visa from the Police(kgb) via the Dean's office. I visited several times during the winter as an Azerbaijani. The conductor (wagon attendance) asked me Drug or Jemliak otkuda. I said Baku. He believed it. otherwise called the police to arrest me.

I find it very interesting that many of these countries miss being part of the old USSR. As a child, I loved studying Geography. However, back in those days, the USSR was just considered "Russia"... at least that's the way I used to view it. Of course, as I got older, I realized that there were many other countries (12 in total, I think, including Russia) that were part of the Soviet Union, but it was still a bit mysterious to me. Since the breakup, access to information about these places is much more readily available. I really enjoy these types of videos. Keep up the great work Slava.

These people are just attesting of what it is like, cause they have experienced both worlds, and it's interesting to listen to what they have to say.

Hey! I just watched your 30 Biggest Russian Cities video & it was very insightful... I am planning to move to Russia and i tried to narrow the cities down to where i should live. Removing Moscow & St Pete out of the way (because those are a given) what is you top 5 or top 10 favorite cities to live in. Thanks and i love all your channels.

Do most people speak Russian there? If so, do they have a specific accent that is different than yours? For example when I visit England I often don’t understand what someone has said due to distinctive accents.

I once met a Kyrgyz student who spoke Chinese, Russia, English, and Kyrgyz. She attended university in China, did her post-graduate studies in Russia, and was learning Japanese at the time. She had an incredibly easy time acquiring Japanese because she already knew most of the KANJI from her time in China, and Turkic/Kyrgyz grammar is similar to Japanese, Mongolian, and Korean. I've known that Central Asian people are fluent in multiple-languages, but I was beyond impressed. She was a daughter of a Kyrgyz diplomat and she said it's a necessary skill for her country to survive amidst powerful neighbors.
