Kyrgyzstan | Frozen Roads to Happiness | Deadliest Journeys
Ойын-сауық
00:00 On icy tracks across the high Kyrgyz plateaus, an old van starts its journey. Driving are Kuban and Duisheu, braving harsh weather conditions to deliver "fruits of happiness" to the region's most isolated villages.
01:57 Before setting out, they stock up on goods like the "fruits of happiness".
04:15 On the road, it's essential that they don't stop.
06:30 When the roads are icy, the drivers can get stuck.
10:27 In the valleys, horsemen engage in "Kok Borou".
12:32 In Kyrgyzstan, a car breakdown can be deadly.
17:10 To find a place to sleep, the taxi must travel many more miles.
18:10 The engine freezes due to the cold.
19:40 Many trucks fall into ravines.
24:48 There are only two routes between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, like the Kizil-Art pass.
28:58 This former Soviet republic is among the poorest.
30:00 Traditionally, Kyrgyz people engage in family trade.
32:00 Clementines are the fruits of grand celebrations in Kyrgyzstan.
35:50 To heat their homes, locals search for bushes in the desert.
39:50 Kuban and Duisheu hear about yaks for sale.
47:10 Crossing the territories of Afghan tribes requires a lot of courage.
48:50 The locals sing to gather strength.
Directors: Philippe Lafaix, Julien Boluen.

Here I am at quick fuel station in Tulsa Oklahoma. I've driven today 700 miles and would like to complain that I'm tired. After watching this, would basically shut up and keep on trucking without barking

I'm only 15 minutes into this documentary and I have already been on more of a journey than I have with anything I've watched in a very long time. These men are such incredible genuine characters. These are exactly the sorts of films that should be seen by everyone! Can you imagine being the cameraman filming as they fire up a blowtorch inside the -37 celsius cab of that old van!? I travelled in Kyrgyzstan for many times, and three times in the Eastern Pamirs (Tajikistan). Jaw dropping landscapes, difficult roads. Later I lived in Canada and I got the strong impression that people in remote mountain villages in Kyrgyzstan, like the heroes of the video, even though being poor are way happier than the vast majority of Canadians...

The situation is almost the same for most Muslims throughout the world, with limitations in facing challenging natural conditions and not wallowing in wealth but always being grateful to Allah for what they have obtained for what they have worked for. the warmth and togetherness of family and brotherhood means that Muslims never feel deprived 😅
Wow. They are still enjoying a hard life and a nice heart and are thankful to GOD. Happiness standards are now very high in this materialistic-peak era, but one can enjoy it if one knows the reality of life: to be happy with what you have and keep hard-working struggle for the best.

I would hate to live in a tropical country, where I really only got to experience 1 season. Right now, it's winter. It's so beautiful out! It's a winter wonderland. But we also have hot summers, beautiful autumns, and lovely springs. I have been to a some tropical countries, such as Cuba. They are beautiful, but I would never want to live in one, and get to only experience one season. Autumn and winter are my favourites. I wouldn't want to live somewhere where I didn't get autumn, with all it's beautiful leaves - they're such beautiful colours. Lemon-yellow, umber, amber, wine-red, scarlet. And winter! Like I said, a winter wonderland.

Kyrgyzstan history in a nutshell; 1) a mountainous country in Central Asia situated on the northwestern border of China. 2) Pop. approx. 5,500,000 3) Official languages are Kyrgyz & Russian ( since 2001). Also called Kirghizia, Kyrgyz Republic w/ capital, Bishkek. 3) annexed by Russia in 1864 & became a constituent republic of the Soviet Union, & when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, Kyrgyzstan became an independent republic. Their resolute determination, unwavering tenacity, & unyielding endurance to live in such unforgiving & inaccessible part of our planet are certainly worthy of my admiration & kudos. Lastly, I can't help feeling a bit guilty of enjoying watching it at the opulent comfort of my residence at Southern California w/ temp. of 70+ F. at 1pm today, whereas they were valiantly living in the grip of a relentless, merciless, freezing weather!
