    @Ted Kaczynski was right So we should just let mentally ill people do whatever they want? Think before you answer that question yea. Also, many people faking being in the military are scammers trying to get money or discounts.

  • @NLTops

    @NLTops

    4 жыл бұрын

    @Ted Kaczynski was right Blatantly obvious huh? To me the only blatantly obvious thing is that you make a lot of assumptions about strangers. Also, you're wrong. I have both family and friends with mental illnesses. I also have my own personality disorder so I've talked to plenty of psychiatrists and psychologists. I also used to date a doctor and I remember quite well the stories she came home with from when she had (part of) her internship in a psych ward. You don't help people by letting people live in their delusion. You help them by pulling them out of their delusions. The more other people accept their delusions the deeper they fall in. Have you ever heard of "killing someone with kindness"? It would apply to your approach of dealing with mental illness. Or are you going to tell the guy having a psychosis that his hair really is made out of snakes? Or the guy with schizophrenia that he really must be hearing the voice of God? Your "compassion" arguement is all about making you feel good about yourself and has nothing to do with the mental illness of the person you're "helping".

    I’m not really seeing these people running a scam or claiming benefits that are not theirs. They look like wannabes playing dress-up. Which is one of the freedoms real soldiers and sailors died for. Harassing wannabes has got to be easier than fighting insurgents. But there’s a bit less glory in it, no?

  • @NLTops

    @NLTops

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Holocaustica You sound pretty naïve. Many stores give discounts to soldiers and/or veterans. Just because you don't "see them running a scam" specifically in the video, doesn't mean they aren't. Also, pretending to be something you're not is already a dishonourable thing to do when it's not about being in the military. But when you pretend to have served and watched your comrades die, when you pretend to have fought for your country when you havn't, that is disrespectful to those who have. It's like spitting on the graves of those who have sacrificed their lives for your present and future. And I don't think anyone confronts these people for their "glory". They confront them because what they're doing is disrespectful and it makes them feel unappreciated for their and their comrades' (actual) sacrifices.

After I ended the war early by tossing a bomb straight through an open window into saddams bathroom, while he was taking a dump, I got sent to this super secret special, don't tell your mom kind of unit. I might get in trouble for telling you this, but after the iraq war my unit, that was stationed at groom lake was sent to some distant planet the origin of wich is super classified, where we fought these giant insects. That's where I lost my arm and earned my 16th medal of honor.
