I have read some of his texts before. With them, as with this lecture, I can partly follow him, and find these parts very interesting. What he says doesn't feel "true" ("the truth"), but it is fascinating stories. Thank you.

Note that I put the word within quotation marks - "truth". Flusser does that a lot himself, and I like that. I can not know why he does it, but I can guess, and I guess that he means something like "this may not be the very best word to use, but what the heck, I have to use some word, and I think you understand rather well approximitely what I try to mean with it, and that is enough for me. To be more accurate I first of all have to spend a lot of energy in finding a better word, and my etc".

His discourse easily parallels with baudrillard s theory of simulation and the birth of the transpolitical, but vilem seems to me more pedagogical in his take on how images and advertising kill the polítical star so to say, make it precisely a star in an ironical twist of events, i think both vilem and baudrillard would concur images, and média emergence in the 20 century were not a bad thing what they do problematize is how reality is taken over by média bringing about the implosion of the scene, polítical, social scene etc

Dear Elefantter, Flusser was never interested in "the truth" ... "the truth" is left for religion, science and naive philosophy ... according to Flusser, philosophical questions only have meaning if there is no answers to them" ... to state the truth is, for Flusser, to 'kill' the greatest art of 'conversation' ... you may read a very interesting collection of essays published in English as "Writings" ... i.e. of course, if you aren't looking for ' truth' ...
