It seems like this period of research and intellectual questioning has fallen through the cracks..

Boy oh boy~! Would I ever Lovecraft see the look on McLuhan face as he watched Common Core in action. I think he'd shit his pants.

I am not aware of any papers written related to this work. But you can try John Culkin for further investigation. He was a friend of McLuhan and bases his work entirely on Marshall. Culkin later founded in New York City the Centre for Understanding Media, and a graduate-school program in media studies at the New School for Social Research, both of which are explicitly based on McLuhan’s work. He is acclaimed to have invented the field of Media Literacy.

55:27 "The Child of the Future -- [that] is a rather terrifying thought -- it makes even science-fiction look rather tame... What is in effect happening is a kind of extension -- not only of the learning process, but of consciousness itself into the outer environment... So that *The Child of the Future is likely to be able to program **#consciousness* with the same ease with which we have previously programmed curricula... [55:52] But ... I can't be terrified by such prospects, really, because these are also Extensions of Man... They are means of becoming more oneself, rather than becoming alienated from oneself... [56:09] You can't possibly imagine a technology (except the most specialist/ fragmented type) that could possibly alienate man from himself... They amplify our powers... They accelerate our powers... and they enrich our learning process enormously..." 56:35 "I think, that's it." :)
