yes even in denmark were my familys origin hails .yes im half viking traces back to a very long time. my grandmother is from there but yes to this day ragnar ivar rollo and bjour are still beloved there .

Best part of Ragnar is he was never perfect. He did things as an audience we can disagree with and yet he was the most likeable and heroic character in the show. He is in the same tier as Jaime Lannister for best character on TV.

This episode was so devastating for me, I got dehydrated and had to spend New Year’s Eve in the hospital. Travis deserved an Emmy. Too bad, the Emmy’s is too busy recognizing cheap unentertaining actors and shows.

Notice that by the time Ragnar dies, he has similar wounds to what Athelstan/Christ had from being crucified. He was bit on both hands and on his feet. And the burn Alle puts into his side is the same as the spear wound on Christ. Interesting bit of a parallel.

A little curiosity: the original speech of Ragnar in the cage was way different from the one that actually was filmed, which was changed by Travis Fimmel himself. Outstanding performance by this guy

Ragnar Lothbrook was a real person, and that is how he died. They did a really good job.

These days people agree that it seems the fictional character Ragnar Lodbroke from the Old Norse Sagas seems to have been inspired by two real life vikings. One a Danish earl, the other the son of Swedish king Sigurd Ring. One of them did the Paris stuff, the other was the one who died in Ellas snake pit and had all these sons with Aslaug. Lagertha was a later invention by a Christian chronicler.

As much as I love Vikings, I have to disagree. SPOILER 5x3 was really good, but the rest of S5 made no sense at all, it was just bad writing

The nickname of "Rags" for Ragnar still makes me smile, even when he's in the worst spot ever.

I've been waiting for you guys to reach this episode and your reactions didn't dissapoint! My feels for those that got teary eyed because that os always my reaction to this episode. And though I've watched and rewatched this episode many times, it doesnt get any easier to watch...

That one eyed man, if the one eye and ravens werent enough of a clue, is Odin.

D R He did not spell it wrong. Oden was his name in Norse language, also today in Scandinavia his name is spelled Oden. Odin is the English name but in Old Norse and what today is Norwegian, Swedish and so forth his name is spelled Oden.

Re watching these last few episodes again makes me realize how much I miss Ragnar 😓 Travis fimmel is soo great. It’s a damn shame he never got recognition from the Emmys bullshiiiit.

Ragnars speach wasn't fake, it was true, because when the seer told Ragnar you will die on the day that the blind man sees you, it wasn't that guy who was geting Ragnar to king Aelle, Ecbert was the one that was blind, when Ragnar saw him he understood it was the faith and that the gods were waiting for him, really amazing episode tho. And the guy without an eye is Odin

i've avoided watching this video until now, this episode broke me down.

Yes Now it's time for The Choice :'D

This is an awesome episode on its own but when you consider that the entire show was built up to this moment; this episode comes to "Ozymandias" levels of good. This is one of the best episodes on TV for me; practically no other show made feel the way Vikings made me feel with All His Angels. Interesting note: There is a theory that in his final moments Ragnar actually saw "The Real Blind Men" which was Ecbert (he is blind about the great war that is about to happen as well as Ragnar manipulating him); and that made Ragnar believes in the gods return (he die the day that the blind men saw him). So, he at least die knowing that he would made it to Valhalla or at least thats the way i see it. Ragnar will be missed; but at least we have Ivar and his actor which is fucking gold; the guy is so good. Im not a big fan of S5 but Ivar will have A LOT of awesome moments; i can't wait for that. Other note: please watch the extended cut about the conversation between Ragnar and the Seer; there were interesting stuff cut off from that scene

And Thus the Saddest episode in the show.When I watched this for the first time it was tough.😢😢 Thank You Travis Fimmel, such an amazing actor.

You might want to know that the snake pit scene has realy been shot with Travis and real snakes , he also got even bite by those snakes :)

Never cried for any tv or movie pr anything.besides for tragedy moments in my family. But this episode made me weep like crazy man. Great show and actor

I always start crying when it starts showing the flashes of the other characters Ragnar loved

they had real snakes in the pit with travis but the snakes biting him were CGI

Oh God this episode is so intense and well done (i cried then and i'm crying now) and Travis...i have no more words for describe him...i miss him so much and for me the show is not longer the same without him 💔💔💔

LMAO Maddie!! That skit was too funny. This episode was just everything. The actors are so incredible and to lose someone like Travis, holy. I tear up everytime I see that scene and to see Micky tear up made me cry even more. I am a Norwegian student of history. Before I started watching the show I only knew one thing about Ragnar Lodbrok, how he died. The icelandic sagas have many stories about him, but the most famous was his death in King Ællas pit of snakes. This event had to happen in the show, as it was probably the most important part of Ragnars saga. It is the end of Ragnars saga, but the beginning of the tale of Ragnars sons. "How the little piggies would grunt, when they hear how the old boar suffered." (A line taken directly from the saga)
