Vijay dug it out of the dirt the way Hogan, Trevino and many other older players did, the old school way of finding belief in oneself slowly with results. They are my favorite kind of great golfers.

I note that the interview (politely?) avoided the big flap the media created concerning VJ's comments about Annika when she played at Colonial. That interview was edited to make it seem like he did not want her there (which was false) and the network refused to release the full statement he made about that. Even Curtis Stange (who was a network golf analyst at the time) would not support him in getting the truth out. As a result the media castigated VJ unmercifully over that. SO - no wonder that after that experience VJ basically told the media to go f..k off. His perspective still shows up in this interview ("so why am I here.....") at the beginning. Can't say I blame him.....

3 money titles in the 2000s. I got the pleasure of following him at the 2005 Canadian Open and meeting his then trainer Joey D. Him and Tiger were my motivational figures in golf.

Vijay became my favourite player in 2004. Epic golfer!
