@@AimeesCooking Probably a lot of different food from different countries have been introduced in Hong Kong. On the of that, properties prices in hong kong have been increased dramatically. This donut is labor intensive and cannot ask for much selling price when the commercial rents have been increasing over those years.

Love this recipe! I’ve been making this. First time not all was hallow. This morning’s batch was a total failed. But the afternoon and night batch was a success! Thank you for the recipe, my only problem is I don't have a stand mixer. Can I ask how to mix them before hand kneading?

You can use a wooden spoon and mix it until it’s not too sticky then go in with your hands.
Thank you so much for the receipt, I bought a bag of these from the local Asian market before and I’m obsessed!! But the store never had it again grrr... I will definitely try this!!!! Hello I’m confused the measurements unit The abbreviation of Gram is G or Gm If your measurement in Gr- grain, It’s supper small if converting to gm. How many tsp of yeast ? Thank you
I tried to make like what you show. My took longer to rise and went fried them they all have crack, they tasted good , but only thing I thing they need is maybe a tsp of vanilla.thanks I will try again with vanilla, let you know how they , i hope the will not have any crack on one side.

Hiii... I've tried many other recipes. My problem is that when I go to fry it.. it's still remains flat 🤧 and not hollow. I'm thinking where am I going wrong? Tried 2 different yeasts.. letting the dough rest over night.. Some doesn't rise.. tried about 3 different types of flowers? I need help lol 😫

If use cake flour, is it okay? Or have to use bread flour?

Yum! I love eating those things...not to sweet and delicious. I wonder why no one every makes them pandan or with other flavors? Or since they look like pita bread after they are fried, stuff them with some kind of bean paste like mung bean with coconuts flakes and then sprinkle on that heavenly combo of ground peanuts, sesame seeds, salt, sugar...you know what I mean. I know the original is amazing, but surely some Vietnamese culinary genius has experimented? :)

Should I omit the water if I’m using instant yeast?
@AimeesCooking

The water is part of the liquid measurement for the recipe. I would recommend to proof the instant yeast anyways (though I know it’s not needed) so that it will help rise faster and to know for sure if it’s still active.

Sweet dough takes longer to rise. Make sure the yeast is good. Not just active but strong, like majority of the percentage are alive. There should be a thick layer of foam when activated.
@matthewn.8569
4 жыл бұрын
I just made it again and this time I activated yeast first even though it’s the instant type and not active. The yeast worked fine, but for some reason it still took about 3 hours for the dough to almost double in size. Besides that, the results were good. They were hollow and tasted very good. Thanks a lot Aimee. 😃
