Well damn. We definately won the battle against the river banks. A dangerous foe, a sleeping giant. Good thing we burned all the river banks before they could mobilize.

Its incredible what you can find on KZread these days. This looks insane, just spraying Napalm on the river banks.

@@flaming_gauntlet6345 it's a diesel mix. I forget what they add to it to thicken it up. The fire is more to burn all the brush so ambushes are more difficult

By the way ,the water jet propulsion systems for these craft were invented in New Zealand! Just saying, as New Zealand did have a small contingent in Vietnam!

I was the radioman on call sign “Zippo 1” (T-112-1 1967-68). Our boat was the first Tango to carry an Army flame thrower backed into our well deck. It’s turret would fire a mixture of napalm and gasoline up over the river up onto the palm trees leaves. In that way, the flaming mass would drop down into the spider trenches along the river bank. Charley would duck down into those trenches after firing their B-40s and B-50s (RPGs). We were so hated that we saw a VC flier showing our boat’s photo and offering a reward of 500 lbs of rice and a furlough for anyone that sunk our boat. They were nearly successful only once.
