My oldest brother was a Helicopter Pilot during the Vietnam War...He did 2 1/2 tours of duty...was shot down many times...but managed to set down or crash land, without him or his crew members dying...I love my brother so much, and I'm so very proud of him...of all the men and women who fought, and died fighting in Vietnam...God Bless them all...(Vietnam...was not Officially a War, it was considered a conflict..I don't think the USA really ever declared War on Vietnam...the same goes for the Korean) My brother stayed in the military even after Vietnam...he made it his Career....and served in the military for I believe 50 + years... He even served several tours in the Middle East before he retired....As a Warrant Officer V.... WHILE Watching this video, I thought ...WOW ...one of those Pilots in the helicopters could be my brother or one of his buddies while he was in Vietnam.... I Love you ...my big brother... And thank you for all your years of service... Thanks to all those that have served and or died serving in the US Military...for all of us.. 🇺🇸 ...for our Nation and our freedoms... My love and gratitude to you all...God Bless each of you and your families...

@@ricklose5508 First Rick, thank you for your service both during and afterwards. I say that because so many I know are still there mentally. If professionals are working with adults that are scarred from traumatic childhoods, what can it be like for a semi-adult in a strange country to have to deal with death all around them? Drugging is like a band-aid on a bleeding artery. Your PTSD God has better answers. God Bless.

Nobody ever, and I mean ever, better say anything bad about those amazing men who did their duty and went over there when the world looked down on them. I may be young, and unfortunately part of the pathetic generation today, but I will stand up for any man who knew what duty and honor meant. Me, Dave, the other door gunner, were thrown out and clear of the falling ship. I heard the co-pilot made it ok too; but not the pilot. The problem I see now Is I relive every F***ing moments of the constant in and out of the LZ. The worst image of it all was one of my 7.62 bullets hit a dink smack in the forehead and it exploded like a ripe tomato. It's been 50 years and I still see it. He went back to 'Nam. He finally got his Purple Heart. Legs tore up. Stayed in 'Nam. We got together some years later. Worked off-shore rigs out of Texas. We split up. Didn't hear from him for years and I couldn't find him. Phone call from Alabama. He asked if I had pictures of us in 'Nam. His got burned up in a house fire. Sent him pictures. Shortly after I heard he killed himself on 9-11-01. I was told the pictures were spread out on a table. He was looking at them when he shot himself. He was despondent. He could barely walk. His legs pained him constantly. He planned it. He called me for the pictures. When we hung up he gave me a clue what he was going to do. I missed it. I should've went down there and gave him the pictures. I'll NEVER forgive myself! I'm old now. My birthday is coming up. I'll be 76 on 9-11. Yes, he killed himself on my birthday. Hell, my grandpa served in Vietnam. Seeing how much the things he went through ate him up made me see the bigger picture. Not all of the US military had a choice on orders during vietnam. The deception and lies of the federal government is to blame for the loss of innocent lives as they gave the order. Not the men following orders. Id go as far to say the soldiers are as much of victims as the civilians. Fragging officers was a common occurrence simply because of the shitty command structure that was doomed to fail due to the fact US troops had little to no morale. I'm no historian so if I have made any errors feel free to correct. Hope this clarified my point of view for you😁

I have/had 2 uncles that were there. My dad's brother was a medic 1969 ish I think. Killed on his motorcycle May 28 1975 when I was 8 years old. I will never forget that morning. My mom's brother from what I hear was crazy before the war. I'm pretty sure he was one that was given the choice go to jail or join the Army. He was in Germany, the only male in the family. His dad died in a car wreck 1960. Didn't have to go. Crazy SOB volunteered in 1967 to go. Got hit with shrapnel his first year. Volunteered to stay for year 2. He's now missing a foot, finger also a hip and back bullet wound. He's 72, only reason I remember this is because he's 20 years and 1 day older than me and he is in bad shape. He came back and got in in car crashes all the time. Probably drunk. He's a legend around here. Love that guy. I visit him whenever I can. He says the only thing that numbs his pain is pot. I work someplace where that's a no-no but when I visit him I take a puff or 2 out of respect. LOVE YOU UNCLE BILL

I still remember watching a news broadcast back in 1967-68 and seeing footage of my oldest uncle helping load soldiers onto a huey while under fire. I was only about 5 at the time, and had no idea where he was or what he was doing. He's dead and gone now, having died of cancer a few years back, but I still have his aviator's wings. ... and I will always remember the hours we spent when I was older, with him telling me about his time there. Where ever he is now, I hope they have plenty of beer and women... and that nobody is stupid enough to shoot at him. ( It won't go well for 'em. )

Guard Dog I have a very random question. My father was a Captain in Vietnam with the 4th Infantry, and retired as a major in the early 90s when I was very young. He passed away about two years ago from Dementia and Parkinson’s that was attributed to Agent Orange. I’m so sorry your uncle passed from cancer :( I totally understand this is personal, but was it attributed to his military days?

Guard Dog Thank you for responding 😊 I am so sorry for your loss, and his sacrifice is not forgotten. I only ask because I myself have been dealing with MS since I was a child, and I have been informed that it could have been passed down from my father’s exposure to Agent Orange. Regardless, I have the highest respect for your uncle, and thank you for sharing his story. My dad told me many times about flying in a Huey and being shot at by the VC. It was an amazing generation of men who put their lives on the line for the love of country and duty. 🇺🇸🇺🇸 💕/Very Proud Major’s Daughter

@@kittybennett9004, it occurs to me that it's a funny thing, turning into a walking, talking history book. Now that my uncle and so many other are gone, I'm probably the only one left that remember the events and people he told about. I know none of his own children do. I hope you remember any stories your father might have told you, since you're now also likely the only link back to those people and events. I've had relatives in a great many wars, apparently, and being nosy and a good listener, have made a point to learn about those things from anyone who'd tell me about them from a very early age. My great grandmother told me about WW 1 and my great grandfather's experience with that. A great uncle used to talk to me about his time in Okinawa, during WW 2. And yet another about the Korean conflict. ... it seems I have a head-full of stories from ghosts now.

My amazing father was a Captain in Vietnam, and was in the jungle exposed to Agent Orange. He passed from Dementia and Parkinson’s a couple of years ago attributed to the exposure. Little back story...where I live there is a Christmas festival, and at the end of it there is a large fireworks display. I stayed home with my father that year because he had sundown syndrome, and fireworks took him back to Vietnam. That night, we could hear the fireworks going off, and suddenly he became very scared and worried. He ran over to me and insisted we kneel to pray for protection. It took me a minute to figure it out, but he thought the Viet Cong were bombing us. Nobody understands the pain they went through then, and are still going through. Total respect to your father and his service 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I was born when my dad was almost 50, and retired as a major from the army after Desert Storm when I was very young. It was about 17 years after he returned as a Captain from Vietnam. I was brought up to respect vets, honor the flag, and love my country. I am so sorry that these ‘adults’ have no respect and zero understanding of what duty and a love for the US means. I apologize for the lack of respect, laziness, and a general feeling of entitlement. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 💕/Very Proud Major’s Daughter
