2:14 this is a phenomenon called Sea Legs, this is fairly common amongst people that spend too much time in ships/boats, specially if you spend more time in the sea than in land like Jack, if you notice, he actually walks normal when he's on the ocean, he just walks weird when he is on land.

@@Darth.Fluffy I'm extremely fit and exercise all the time, parkour is one of my favorite activities, though now my parkour regiment is limited as I only have one arm and one leg do to IED, so I still get my runs in and jumping over tables and fences, just not any climbing, yet before my injuries i did it all. People who do not maintain an active lifestyle have greater chances of injury.

Yeah, rotationplasty, or knee reversal surgery. If your leg needs to be amputated above the knee but your ankle, thigh and foot are intact, they can re-attach it 180 degrees rotated. With some training, it can function like a knee! And I 100% agree on it being both genius-level neat and also really weird when seeing it for the first time.

You stop noticing it after awhile on a ship at sea, I've walked on the edge of the bulkhead (wall) a few times. The real problem is when you get back to shore and your equilibrium is jacked up for awhile because even though you're standing perfectly still everything still sways.

About the backwards foot girl: For some reason she had to get her thigh amputated (disease, cancer, accident, shark attack). Instead of removing her whole leg, the doctors were able to reattach her calf and foot to her thigh stump. Not only is it easier to attach it backwards, the backwards foot actually helps mobility and attaching the prosthetic

The backwards foot thing is called rotationplasty - doctors actually do this kind of surgery if your knee was damaged, but your ankle is fine. Prosthetics can't really recreate your knee, but thanks to that you can have a relatively normal live.

At this point I'm 120% convinced that the animals that are used in old folklore and legends were first uttered by Henry (16:32); only he can come up with such magnificent creatures...

There are areas where more than half of the wolves are black. The crossbreeding with dogs wouldn't have produced enough of a genetic change to affect a large population. The color variation is inherent to wolves.

Most boats don't move THAT bad. that being said, when you get on land for the first time after a couple days at sea you suffer from sealegs, where it's hard to walk in a straight line because your legs are still used to balance for the swaying motion.

Never had sealegs and I spend 4+ months at sea during contracts. Yeah, only small ships roll that badly during rough weather. As for it being fun... yeah for maybe 2 min, try living like that for 2-3 day during storms or when there is a big swell. Meals or shower are especially fun.

Yep, depends on how high the swells crest. Back when I was in the coast guard we'd always go to forward part of the ship when we'd hit rough seas and try to stand up for the fun of it. The floor literally felt like it was dropping out from under you.

If your leg needs to be amputated but your foot is still intact and fine, what can be done is the removal of the upper leg and the foot is rotated to replace the knee. It allows the movement of a prosthetic and maintains specific neural pathways for walking behavior. Allowing recovery and rehabilitation to take less time, thus enabling the effective individual more than a full amputation.

For anyone wondering at 5:00 I have a cousin who went through the same surgery. Basically, due to complications in the lower leg, it is much safer to amputate. However, by attaching the foot onto the end of the thigh backwards like that, the heel acts like a knee to allow for easier movement of the prosthetic leg.

I actually watched a documentary on the backwards foot its pretty interesting. If i remember correctly they surgically do that for certain patients (I forgot the specific health reasons). By doing that the foot acts as a knee so you can walk around pretty normally with a prosthetic.

It's for people with bone cancer in their leg. One of the worst kinds. The use of the foot as a knee is usually done for young kids who have this type of cancer.

5:22 I think it's better to have that than nothing. losing the part of your leg below the knee means you have a better shot of having functional prosthesis. In her case, it appears that her ankle acts as her knee which means she can articulate her leg and walk more naturally instead of having a completely stiff full length prosthetic leg.

There are people and companies that can make a full leg prosthetic that will swing like a normal leg but they're usually very expensive and can be uncomfortable after a while. Half leg prosthetics simply easier to make, thus cheaper, are much more comfortable to wear and if for some reason it needs to be replaced or upgraded would be easier as well.

The backward foot thing is called rotationplasty, if someone has a tumor at their knee and it needs to be amputated, the surgeon will remove the middle section and rotate the lower leg with the foot, then reattach it as it helps with prosthetic control. Disappearing guy is just zoom background if you move far enough away it doesn't show you.

If you have more than 10 mods installed then you might inevitably eventually have to do manual patching of mods. as well as a ton of other stuff just to get your game to work. experience always helps. the more you mod, the more likely you are to find success. so it's good to keep up this hobby as it'll be very rewarding in the future.

It's irritating af and it's only getting worse what happened to glorifying Level headed smart beautiful women who know how to carry themselves respectfully. I hate the world we live in today.

The reason People can have their foot backwards like this is because stationary pieces of a prosthetic are a LOT easier to make but joints and moving pieces are almost impossible to replicate organically and extremely difficult to make prosthetically and make work without some form of robotics. So what they do if there is severe enough trauma to the leg that it needs amputation but the ankle joint is still usable they remove the section of leg that is damaged, turn the foot backwards so that it can work as a replacement joint for the knee and reconnect it where the knee would go. then when it heals and they get a prosthetic they can have a functional knee joint.

5:00 this is actually a pretty common way to solve amputations, if theres something wrong with your knee or lower leg but your foot is fine. They will take the foot and put it at the knee so that you can use it as a knee joint to move your prostetic leg.

the guy with the Squirrels has come across something called a Squirrel king, it is fairly common and happens with many rodents and other small animals with long tails where they get entangled with each other and can not separate. i've seen rat kings with up to 6 rats all tangled together

The divinity original sin 2 reference for the monkey and goat duo, this is the content i needed

fun thing: that weird backward foot? It was made like that on purpose by a surgeon. I dont remember to fix what injury/malformation but basically they surgically make it like that, to bypass the knee joint. This way she has a movable joint that she can control, and the rest of the leg is easier to make as a prothesis, instead of loosing the whole leg. I have seen the surgery, its not pretty and it looks wonky as f, but its cool that it basically saves the functionality and a good part of the leg.

Depending on the country/city you can own a wolf under specific circumstances/regulations such as in the UK you can own a wolf however you need a specific license that allows you to own a wolf pup that has been abandoned by its pack

There are rules around the "wolf" content of the pup (like 50%). You can't just own a timber wolf in the UK as it would kill every 4 legged creature it comes near. Best off leaving them to the sanctuaries as they have the adequate land to contain them.

They are also escape artists the size of donkeys, so its not uncommon to see a jail-sized kennel for one single canine, with methods to ensure they don't get out. But yeah, generally they love to dig and just be by themselves. Unless they are in a pack. Then it gets fun. Just think of huskies, but over twice the size. Oh, and they hate raccoons. With a verocity unmatched by many. At least mine did.

The backwards foot is an operation where the lower leg is cut off and turned around turning your ankle into a Knee for a prosthetic. This is used in extreme cases of knee degeneration and also bone infections, where most of the lower leg is removed.

Same can be done for extreme femur trauma or degeneration. Remove the upper leg, replace with just the lower leg. Also if the can utilise the foot to save a knee joint, they will. Your range of movement in a prosthetic is massively increased with a functioning knee joint.

The lady with the mini foot, I imagine having that and all the loving parts on that makes having a working prosthetic easier to replicate the function of a normal foot
