I did something similar, although I just straight up just left without telling. They knew I was going out though, so no worries there. Ended up spending pretty much the entire day in the woods just chilling. Ate berries as it was berry season. Went home simply out of boredom like 7-8 hours later. My parents weren't even slightly worried. Then again, my parents let me drive a boat to go fishing when I was like 9-10 years old as long as I wore my vest... so my parents just kind of trusted me. Never really did anything bad and was careful.

Instead of making people eligible for these kind of compensations when bumped, they should make it mandatory for airlines to offer them. And if they don’t proactively do so, people who were not offered them should be eligible to sue them out of existence. I am quite confident that only a few airlines would have too go bankrupt before the rest of them, firstly comply, and secondly, being bumped becomes a much more uncommon occurrence.

TLDR; My family and I used the compensation on our flights to get part of the vacation paid (or atleast the flight) around 200€ if i remember correctly i didn't ask. So we actually wanted the plane to get delayed. Long: Regarding the tictok about the airline paying the girl for the missing plane. My family and me actually got quite a few family vacations airplane tickets free (due to the compensation). Normally we were waiting for the planes to get delayed. Once they got more around 1h we went to the stand of ther plane company to ask for free food tickets to spend on the airport and you actually get some compensation. At around 2h, we celebrated because we got the plane ticket paid and a bit of the expenses of the vacation. (because we used cheap airlines which worked at out favour as they mostly got delayed). The reason why we could get so vacations so often was because out of 5-6 flights, 3-4 got delayed. But damn, I got to know so much about the airport as it was so boring to wait. It was a little trick we picked up and mostly actually wanted to get a plane delayed.

the run away kid reminds me of me a long time ago. i was playing with the mercury filled thermometer in the bathroom and dropped it and mercury droplets scattered around the floor (quite cool if you've never seen it before) i didn't even wait around to get told off, i left a not saying i was running away and took off into the nearby woods. i was back within half an hour..... after all that my parents didn't even care, it was barely worth anything but to my child eyes it looked like it must have cost a fortune.

Inuit don't hunt that many whales at the time, and government have strict regulations how many will be hunted in regions (Avannaa "north", Qeqqata "central", Kujataa "south", Tunu "east".) according to (natural preservation law? I can't remember which one). Ah, it's getting too long.

@@abelolsen9656 I misread the second part of you comment, tought you said it wasn't the europeans. It's good the Inuit self-regulate though in their case it's to live from it so it's not an unethical hunt anyway. Thanks for the sharing of knowledge !
