Video shows Henderson police beating store employee who tried to help, city to pay victim $450K

The City of Henderson must pay $450,000 in damages after a jury decided a former sergeant was negligent and violated a man's civil rights when he used excessive force against him in 2018. A jury in Clark County delivered a verdict on Wednesday.

Studies have shown when the local or state government needs money the number of traffic tickets issued increases. The tax payers will pay for it one way or another. Policing is a profit and with all businesses, some costs come with it. As long as the profit outweighs the cost there is no reason for them to change it. Roughly 42 million speeding tickets are issued each year. It is estimated the Government collects 15 billion a year for speeding tickets alone. We do not know the exact amount because they are not required to report it.

So you would penalize people in the community that depend on the police force by financially reducing the department's ability to perform their duties? How about penalizing the offending officers instead of the community they're supposed to be serving? Don't you think that would be more reasonable? Many of the laws and regulations you are subject to are a result of legislation designed to regulate and modify the behavior of a small percentage of the population, and yet, we ALL have to follow those laws regardless of whether we engage in the behavior(s) those laws are meant to regulate. Do you think that's fair, too?

The Mayor, City manager, and Police Chief should all be held accountable. This guy has a long history of being a horrible cop. And they all continued to let him stay. If a citizen is the lookout for others robbing a store, and the people in the store commit a worse crime while in the store. The lookout who did not do that crime can and will be charged with that crime. Double standards are not constitutional. These people let this man commit crime after crime. They should be charged just like we would be charged. And the people in this town need to grow up, be adults, care about their community, sacrifice just a little, stand outside this police station until the Chief resigns. If the entire town does it, it will be done in a day. But like the vast majority of America, we are lazy and do not sacrifice for jack shit until there is no other choice. This country is unique and is truly run by the people. We decide who and what, but we love our easy lifestyles and do not want to put any effort into making our community better. If all the people in any town spent 1 hour a day helping their town, it would be a thousand times nicer in every single way. Less crime, less corruption, less pollution, less litter, less broken public property, less homeless, less everything that is bad. But we are all too lazy. Lazy people equals shit government. Until we change, this will keep happening.

@@Jestin612 The house next to me was getting broke into and I called 911 because there are 2 men who work nights and 2 women and 3 kids home alone and they sent a cop car with 2 women and they were to scared to even get out of the car when I told them 2 men kicked the window in and they are still inside and the cop said how big are they and I said 6 foot or maybe bigger and that's when they decided it was to dangerous for them to go in so they drove away, I called back and the dispatch said the officers who went told us the call was clear so we can't send another car to a call that was reported as all clear, Last week the cops put a warning on the radio and tv telling people they can't keep us safe and to just give criminals whatever they ask for because the cops can not get to you and help, But we still can't have gun's or knives or pepper spray or stun gun for safety
